As I'm reading the second chapter of Hegel's Science of Logic, I realize that, for Hegel, the movement from pure immediacy (e.g. pure being) to self-mediation— which mediates itself in its otherness—is a crucial step that initiates and enables the whole unfolding of the Logic.

Probably the most retarded thing I’ve read all year. And I’m on Twitter every day.
🚨 Da’Shaun L. Harrison at Socialism 2026 argues that the political deployment of GLP-1 drugs is “fascistic” because they exist in “a world fixated on genociding fat people.” “The political deployment of GLP-1s is fascistic, not because individuals take them, but because the conditions under which they become necessary are shaped by a world fixated on genociding fat people.” And to explain why that is supposedly fascistic, Harrison turns to Frantz Fanon and “Black flesh under colonial surveillance.” If GLP-1s are already “body fascism,” the dual and triple agonists are going to require an entirely new theoretical vocabulary.

The key claim here is transition to communism. The dictatorship of the proletariat isn't the lower phase of communism, but a transition to the lower phase of communism. It's in this phase that the DOTP already fades away because classes no longer exist.
Replying to @Gattungswesen25
The lower phase of communism is itself transitory, that’s how you get to the higher stage.

Marx: here's my concept of 'value', meant to grasp how labor becomes socially valid only through the market in the context of commodity production. Random moron: so Marx thinks value is a labor quantity totally independent of the market, except also dependent on it?? CUriOUs
Маркс: стоимость создаётся трудом на фабрике. Также Маркс: если товар не продаётся — этот труд не был общественно необходимым, стоимости нет. Итог: стоимость определяется рынком, но мы будем делать вид, что она определяется только трудом.

Red Pen is an average ML-Dengist YouTube channel whose understanding of theory is far more impoverished than the poverty of philosophy which Marx attributes to Proudhon.

This is actually pretty correct. The Neo-classical (and by extension the Austrian) school served as radical criticism of many of the classical school’s conjectures. Of noteworthy attention is the famous theory of value (prices = costs of production), the theory of speculation (“wasteful speculation”, “unproductive labour”), the theory of entrepreneurship (Smith puts them in little appraisal because they engage in ventures of “excess risk”), the theory of a long-run natural price, and the theory of rent which is viewed as a portion of the labourer’s produce and wasteful speculation. All of these were criticised with the advent of marginalism (although Menger and Walras’s theory of marginalism is quite different), time-preference theory, a microeconomic consideration on the origin and fluctuation of prices and (much later) a theory of the entrepreneur. Hence we cannot view Austrian theory as a mere continuation of Smith and Ricardo’s. Although it *is* very much worth noting that the *classical* school was often not internally consistent (Nassau Senior may have pointed out the importance of time-preference in entrepreneurship long before Bohm-Bawerk by acknowledging “abstinence”) and that there are much better “classical” heroes than Smith, such as Richard Cantillon and Ibn Khaldoun (although Khaldoun’s theory of value is also fallacious)
Adam Smith Institute acting like Adam Smith would've liked von Hayek is wild. looks like someone at the institute needs to read Adam Smith.

Marxism isn't "Let's start communes everyone!" It's a framework that analyzes how capitalism is pregnant with the potential of becoming communism through the working class abolishing the very material condition of production that reproduces the relation between capital and labor.

Do communists know there were like 5000 attempts in recorded human history to share all property collectively before Marx was born? The Pythagoreans, Essenes, some early Christians, Mazdakites, Taborites, Anabaptists, Diggers etc. They all failed.

I’ve never seen a critic of Marx who understands that Marx himself thought his unique theoretical contribution was a *critique* of the labor theory of value. Specifically, he argued that the labor in commodities has a dual nature. You will NEVER see a critic of Marx mention this.
This. Marx’s Labor Theory of Value is a hot mess. I don’t think it’s even an economic theory technically speaking. It’s an overstated moral critique that was only superficially plausible at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution.

Marx describing human labor power as "only the manifestation of a force of Nature" indicates that he sees humanity as an extension of Nature rather than masters of Nature. Labor power is a force of Nature conscious of itself. This is at odds with the productivist reading of Marx.
Labor is not the source of all wealth. Nature is just as much the source of use values (and it is surely of such that material wealth consists!) as labor, which itself is only the manifestation of a force of nature, human labor power.

Kalecki's profit equation: Π= I + (G − T) + (X − M) − SH This shows something, investment creates savings, not the other way around. Savings doesn't fund investment in aggregate, it can't Investment generates the saving that shows up ex post and is a macro identity.

These are my value theory notes. Recently I had the idea of turning it into a textbook, though it will be years longer before it is anywhere near publishing. However, soon they will have enough filled in that I will feel comfortable making them "open source"

reading Marx is not meant to convince you capitalism is bad. a child can see that. it's meant to tell you what to do about it.

I need to understand that conventional academic economics starts with unreal models. Then, when I finally understand that those models are wrong, it's time to bloat those them with unnecessary variables (frictions). Only then can I fool myself into believing they're right. 🙄

Abolish intellectual property. You cannot "own" an idea and it is fundamentally insane to suggest you can. Every single created work should be public domain to allow for infinite innovation and artistic freedom.

Kant and Hegel agree that our experience of the world isn't immediate or a ready-made given. Our experience is always mediated by categories/concepts. This insight carries over into Marx's view that our understanding of ourselves and society is mediated by ruling class ideas.
