(Belated) Congratulations to Sean on passing his viva on Friday! An excellent and insightful researcher @EPSRC_CDT_React @impchemistry and also great lab colleague. His work with us and Chris Braddock has been pivotal in so much of our work on catalysis using recovered metals.
Congratulations to @YuQin421 on winning the best talk prize in the Imaging, Sensing and Analytical Chemistry section at the @impchemistry Postgraduate Symposium!! Yu gave a really great talk on her nanogel work for combined imaging and therapy.
Delighted that our work on Pd catalysts recovered from waste is featured on the cover of the current issue of @Catalysts_MDPI along with many other interesting articles in the issue. mdpi.com/2073-4344/14/5
Congratulations to Alex, Olivia and Yan on graduating from their MRes courses @CheMResImperial @impchemistry! It was great to see them and have the chance to take some pictures with their proud supervisors and members of the group.
We're looking forward to contributing to the sustainability of Pd in labs @Impchemistry through the award of a @RoySocChem Sustainable Laboratories Grant! #SustainableLabs

Great to be able to welcome new group members, Cliona, Steffan and Olivia today. They will each be working in a different area of the group's research programme on imaging, sensing and catalysis!

Replying to @impchemistry
@impchemistry is celebrating Black history with a talk by Sim Superville, a mentor at the Afro-Caribbean Commercial Science Network and Advanced Product Manager at Benevolent AI! 💻
There'll be dance, food and music, so make sure to join 🍾🎵
Congratulations @ConnorWells_95 @UCLChemistry @impchemistry on passing your viva! It was a pleasure to be part of your supervisory team. All the best for your new role with @Matter_CP!

A little story for a wet Friday night. Near my house I found a wallet in the road. When opening it I found a bank card, some cash, a library and a youth club card. And also a front door key. The person who dropped it is 14 and could be locked out so I set out to find him….1/6
Students never believe it when I tell them that PhD vivas often turn in to stimulating and (dare I say it) enjoyable discussions, but Rian was happy to confirm that this was indeed the case, thanks to @GroupThomas and @Britovsek_Group!
Despite the best efforts of the pandemic, Rian (@impchemistry @ImagingCDT) produced a really nice PhD thesis describing his many contributions to our work on CO probes in biological environments. Last week he passed his viva with flying colours! Congratulations, Dr Rian!!

This work in @ACSSustainable on the use of recovered gold complexes in catalysis has now been covered by 24 news outlets!(acs.altmetric.com/details/13…).
Really nice article on our work by @h_dunning. We used SIM cards but you can also use printed circuit boards, printer cartridges etc. to make catalytically-active gold complexes thanks to the technique pioneered by our collaborator Angela Serpe @univca!
If you wish to know more, the paper in @ACSSustainable (open access) is here: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…

Did you know your SIM card could help make medicines? 📱
Led by Prof James Wilton-Ely (@JWElab), our researchers have used gold extracted from SIM cards as catalysts for reactions that could be applied to making drugs.

It is that time of year again! The JWE group managed to combine testing the lift capacity with the annual Christmas dinner @impchemistry! It was really great that illustrious former members, @hannahperry_93 and @tamzintalkssci were able to join us!
Many congratulations to Xin on passing her PhD viva @impchemistry! It was great to celebrate with her on her return to the UK. Many thanks for the fantastic work on theranostic gold nanorods (now adorning her commemorative mug!) and all the best for the postdoc @Cambridge_Uni!
Recently finished my @RoySocChem Sir Geoffrey Wilkinson Award lecture tour in the great city of Edinburgh. Really enjoyable and stimulating chats with colleagues there. Many thanks to @ArtOxiZymes, @garden_jenni & @cowley_group! Pictures of the skyline and James Clerk Maxwell.
Great stuff @Faysall__! Bringing the wonders of the nanoworld to the @imperialcollege Lates event and flying the flag for the @ImagingCDT!
