Tennis legend Kukushkin retires in Almaty next week. 4 Top 10 wins, career high of No.39, but to me players with such a unique game-style bring so much to our sport. Fantastic game for grass too. Wishing Kuku well in his life after tennis. One more big week....

Pathetic. Indescribably pathetic. If you have enough oil money to chuck around you don’t have to obey our laws, apparently. You can ruin the premier league too while you’re at it. What an utter scandal.
EXCL: Manchester City were invited and took part in a government trade delegation to India this week, despite the Premier League charges. Bev Craig, Andy Burnham’s successor as mayor, took a club representative to Delhi and Mumbai on a trip organised by business secretary Jonathan Reynolds, where she and other mayors have been promoting British trade and tourism. She defended the decision to invite City even as the PM came under fire for his own contacts with the club, telling the Guardian it had played a vital role in helping build infrastructure in her city. Remember it well. And the interview you gave to Murray Walker afterwards was great, something along the lines of "Jacques' gone off... and I can imagine you commentating"
30 years ago and it never gets old. What can I say? Sorry you had to get up early again! And a million thanks to all who did 🙏🏻👏🏼✌🏻

Manchester United’s journey to the promised land began long before those unforgettable final moments at Camp Nou. @JSilk & Rob Smyth revisit the extraordinary 1998–99 treble season, starting with the summer spending that brought Yorke, Stam and Blomqvist youtube.com/watch?v=BynsdAXY…

Toca movilizarse. Toca pelear. El 29 de noviembre vamos a hacer historia. Otra vez.

I hope this pays off for the Spanish left - responding to national fury over rent hikes & evictions & the right blocking measures to protect renters… All the solidarity in the world with Spanish progressives working to stop yet another European country turning hard right

Agree - the comment about him not wanting them to leave, and thanking them, could turn out to be the beginning of his downfall
Andy Burnham's relationship with City's owners & ties to Abu Dhabi is going to come under increasing scrutiny & his comments last week will lead to it becoming one of the biggest stories of the year. Their shady investment in Manchester is arguably the reason he is Prime Minister. While the story on City's cheating & corruption grows in the public eye, so too will knowledge of their ‘sweetheart deals’ in Manchester. It's any wonder he's willing to defend them like he did, but by doing so he's opened a pandora's box he can't close. Speaking like he did was a catastrophic error.

The fact the Treasury select co chair has asked HMRC to investigate potential tax evasion at Man City shouldn’t be a shock. The shock should be that HMRC hasn’t already started an investigation. The grounds for one have been in public domain since 2018. nytimes.com/athletic/7649640…

These continued references by Man City to ‘the opinion’ of the commission are weird. You mean an independent legal panel of experts who spent years poring over thousands of pages of evidence and listened to a host of witnesses.

"The opinion of the Premier League Commission" 😂😂😂
🚨 OFFICIAL: Manchester City confirm they appeal after PL verdict, stating again they are “innocent”. “Manchester City Football Club can confirm that at 7pm on Thursday 1st October 2026 the Club lodged its comprehensive Appeal against the opinion of the Premier League Commission, in relation to the Premier League disciplinary matter. The Club’s firm position is that, on multiple grounds, the opinion contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe. The Club is innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League and a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence exists in support of all of its positions, relating to this case. We will continue to respect due process and are necessarily restricted in what we can say further until all proceedings are complete”.
