A foreign bank with Iran as its third-largest shareholder has given over $17 million to at least 50 Islamic private K-12 schools in the United States. Along with these grants, the Islamic Development Bank works with the largest Islamic K-12 school accreditation organization in the U.S., the Council of Islamic Schools based in North America (CISNA).
🏫 America’s primary and secondary schools have become targets of foreign influence campaigns.
Over $10M in QFI grants have reached nearly two dozen school districts, mainly supporting Arabic language and culture instruction.

Buried under yesterday's @USTreasury Iran sanctions is something not done before.
This is the first time khums (the one-fifth levy observant muslims pay on surplus income) is named as a channel the Islamic Republic exploits for sanctions evasion and terror finance.
The alert publish by FinCEN didn't hold back saying some collectors act "on behalf of prominent Iranian ayatollahs with ties to the regime or on behalf of the Supreme Leader himself." The U.S. government is asking banks to be on the look out for these flows and report them.
In 2024 two men in Texas pleaded guilty to collecting khums on Khamenei's behalf, carrying cash out in amounts under $10,000 to evade detection, and once used 25 pilgrims bound for Iraq to hand-deliver dollars to Iran.

It’s time for the US to force #Oman to choose whether it’s on the side of international legitimacy or lawlessness and terrorism. The #Houthi intelligence station/procurement office/terrorism and smuggling network in Muscat must be closed down.
Saudi Arabia says Houthis declined to meet in Oman in recent weeks.
Two things:
1. Oman still hosts a Houthi HQ

This is exactly right. I argued it throughout my tenure as UK Ambassador for Yemen. The Houthis could’ve been defeated 7 years ago, driven out of Hodeidah & land-locked in the northern highlands. The weakness of the international community has inflicted this current mess upon us.
Saudi Arabia Has Few Options as Houthis Aim at Heart of Its Ambitions.
What I take away from this: we should have helped the Saudis win — not demanded an end to their war. Flawed and messy as it was.
