Had such a brilliant time at @BoltonFilmFest this weekend. Such amazing quality of films, @StephHazel90 and I felt so proud to be among them. We met loads of new filmmakers and had fun catching up with friends. Thanks so much for having us!

I never thought I’d write satire until it was forced on me by @nycmidnight, a brilliant screenwriting challenge that makes you go outside your comfort zone as well as creating a finished script within a few days. Highly recommend!
Our comedy short Choked Up is on Omeleto! MP Fiona Lacey’s (Maxine Peake) career take a nosedive as her interview goes awry, joyfully escalated by political pundits, keyboard warriors and social media whataboutery. Watch here youtu.be/lBcVEyC6ZGA?si=wzrK…

Loved the Ian Beesley exhibition at the amazing Salts Mill (my happy place). Visceral, evocative photography with handwritten anecdotes about each series of shots - a lovely insight into the process and the people.
We’re open today, bank holiday Mon Aug 26th, closed Tues 27th - see saltsmill.org.uk for details. Come & see ‘Life Goes On’ by @IanBeesleyphoto – Gallery 2, 2nd floor, admission free. There’s an excellent article about Beesley’s practice in Wul:

ALT A black and white photograph showing 2 men hard at work atop a large machine with two rollers. It's called 'Card Fettlers, Brackendale Mills, Thackley, Bradford, 1980s' and it's by Ian Beesley. Of the photo, Beeslet comments: “With the demise of traditional industry many of the local dialect words peculiar to specific trades and industries have vanished from our vocabularies: the jobs are extinct and so are the words to describe them. I find that deeply sad. I’ve always loved these job titles and hope my work will in some small way stand testament to the folks who grafted through their lives doing these jobs."

🎞️BEST OVERALL FILM:
THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MAGGIE MONCRIEFF

Michael Phelps is literally referred to as a freak of nature because of his disproportionate wingspan, double jointed ankles, lung capacity twice that of an average human, body that produces half the lactic acid of a typical athlete, and he is rightly celebrated for being the greatest male swimmer in history. Meanwhile, female athletes with genetic differences are legally discriminated against and harassed to no end. This is not about “protecting women in sports” - this is about protecting a very specific idea of what a woman is.
This is so cool, thanks @IndieHorrorSoc I’d like to say completing the challenge was a reward itself - and it definitely was - but Best Film is undeniably awesome! And thanks @Hoticetheatre for being a great challenge partner!
Massive thank you to @IndieHorrorSoc for another amazing @666_challenge !! @JMWorzel and I absolutely delighted to come away with the Best Film award!!! Congratulations to all the brilliant film makers - what a wonderful afternoon of spooky joy!!
Absolutely thrilled!
