"Well, maybe people will get used to saying that." - Walt Disney 😂
Interestingly enough, the 1953 aerial says “World of Tomorrow” & not Tomorrowland at all. It’s likely Herb Ryman was misremembering the timeline for this story, but these are his words from an interview in 1986.

How about a fresh UHD scan for you as we continue digitizing our slides collected over the past decade? 😁 Walt Disney's exhibits at the New York World's Fair, photo captured April 1964!

I recently ran across one of the strangest Disney signs I’ve ever seen in this footage 😳 Can you imagine something like that in Disneyland today (and the feedback it would invite)? 😂
Also, I think the grave of the unknown tourist is due for a comeback. 🪦

While everyone knows Carlos in the well scene of Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean (and his vocal wife in the upper window), there’s much more storytelling in this scene than meets the eye…. and even more that’s been lost since 1967.

Cleaning up a 100mp scan of 1972 Cinderella Castle rn no cap no slop. What a sight!
IMO the only thing interesting about this game was the epic photo of Cinderella Castle they used for the cover, which was actually shot nearly a decade beforehand in 1981 for Walt Disney World's Tencennial celebration.

Completing ultra high res raw scans for 100+ vintage never-before-seen Disney photos for @MickeyViews and this one's too cool to not share right this second. Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World, November 1972!

In my own head canon, the redhead IS his Wicked Wench, and she’d rather be auctioned off out of spite than be with him. 😂 I do think the Wicked Wench is fitting for Blackbeard, though, as he is no gentleman pirate and he wouldn’t have a sweet or romantic name for his ship.

The St. Louis park concept that I show here for the Lewis and Clark ride was on a lower level of the park. Next door, there would have been a Jean Lafitte ride likely inspired by a 1958 Claude Coats concept for DL’s Pirates that also had Jean Lafitte & the Battle of New Orleans.

While the many historical revelations from the Wayback WED event are being discussed on Distory Nite Shift, here's my personal account of what happened after the presentations and perhaps a few revelations of my own. 😉

This is just the tip of the obscure Disney history iceberg when it comes to the amount of rare concept art, photos, & stories the imagineers shared recently at Wayback WED.
If you’ve heard all the “usual” stories before, I guarantee this one has more than a few new gems!

Justice for the overlooked skunks of Big Thunder… everyone is so busy looking the dynamite goat, they are always forgotten 🦨
I also love that wanted poster for the Order that they recently put in Rainbow Ridge, such a great addition honoring the history of the Mine Train.
They actually had a completely original BGM recorded for Port Discovery but it was lost in the shuffle when Tokyo Disneysea’s first music director was (very) wrongfully “let go”.
