Incredibly sad to hear this. Bill was a brilliant colleague at the Chron, and he was a walking encyclopaedia of NE athletics. More than that, though, he was just a lovely man. chroniclelive.co.uk/news/nor…
So sorry to hear of the death of ex-#SAFC midfielder Eric Roy at the age of 58. Such a classy footballer, a real character, and a nice guy too. Always a pleasure to chat to him at the Charlie Hurley
Who’d of thought it? Beyond the dreams of any #safc fans at the start of the season.
Seventh place and Europa League football next season.
Absolutely incredible achievement by this group of players, Regis Le Bris and his staff!

Massive thanks this morning to @Bradleysfight & @SunderlandAFC for allowing us onto the pitch this morning before our mammoth journey down to the Hill Dickinson this week! A very supportive send off 💜
Very sad to hear that lifelong #safc supporter George Forster has passed away at the age of 99. George was Sunderland through and through, and it was always a pleasure to chat to him after home games. He will be a huge miss
Fascinating to see whether Glasner manages another Palace game. His post-match comments were a damning indictment of the club’s hierarchy. #safc
A lovely tribute in today’s programme to press steward Andy Edmonds, who passed away last weekend. Andy was a welcoming face in the SoL press room since my first game in 1999, and for many years before that. He will be sorely missed. ‘Turn those mobile phones off!’ #safc

Still trying to get my head around the news that Gary Rowell has died. I knew he’d been ill for a long time, but it still came as a shock. Such a lovely man and great company - so many happy memories of covering #safc when Gary was on radio. Some player, too. A genuine legend

Sunderland have won a Premier League match coming from 2+ goals down for the first time ever 👊
Brobbed again!
Brilliant result for #safc, incredible spirit to come back from 2-0 down.
22 points before December - some achievement

#safc sloppy at times and a better team than Wolves would have punished them. Still, Mukiele’s goal meant they did enough - even before the late og added a gloss on things - and 14pts after eight games is an excellent return
