Phillies. Baseball Stats. Bobby Abreu is a HoFer

If you take any 2 statistics of Bobby Abreu’s career numbers, the players who fit that criteria are literally just him and a bunch of Hall of Famers. I will post a different combo each day to prove it. #AbreuforHOF

Oh look, another fan interference at Yankee stadium in the playoffs. At least they have reviews now.

FWIW, over Nolas last 13 games, when Stubbs became his everyday C, he allowed 24 runs in 68.2 innings(3.14 ERA) With Stubbs: 48.2 IP 11 Rs 6 HRs 2.03 ERA With JT: 20 IP 13 Rs 7 HRs 5.85 ERA Makes you wonder if Stubbs should’ve started until Nola was done.

Not clinching earlier and wasting wheeler and blowing game 1 is what did it. The offense again went silent. I don’t what they’ll do to fix it cause everyone is back again except Bohm, but he was the best hitter the 2nd half. Kevin Long has to be gone. RH bat is absolutely needed

And a backup catcher is a must. JT is done, they resigned him in a panic move but he clearly can’t play this many games anymore. Tons of money coming off the books to get some RP help. I’d even look to trade rostered player like Marsh or Stott. They just have too many lefty’s.

And you need to have a talk with Bryce about where he’s playing in the field cause that changes how they view FA. The Braves are better so not shocking they lost but they had it again last like last year against LA This is all assuming there’s even baseball next year.

I’m gonna need the offense to show up tonight. I can’t have them with 1 run going into the 7th again. Give Nola some runs and maybe it stretches him out longer and we don’t have to use wheeler.

The Braves bullpen is very good and they have a ton of LHP. So what does Mattingly do as far as the platoon players? Their highest leverage RPs are righty’s so you’d think it would be mostly lefty’s to start, but Holmes is a RHP. Feel like you have to start Hill and De La Cruz

Big time Bohmer today. Massive HR to win it but don’t forget about the 2 big time DPs he turned in the 6th and 8th. Both him and Harper made up for their defensive mistake. And Andrew Painter was brilliant. We’ll see you tomorrow!

This is the dumbest team I’ve ever seen in my life. They constantly make bad decisions. Bad base running. Bad defense. You can’t even blame the coaches cause this is basic fundamentals and it’s happened under all of them.

This is a repeat of yesterday. Let’s hope the ending isn’t the same.

Since going up 2-0 on Arizona in 2023, the Phillies are just 3-11 in playoff games. They’ve held a lead in 8 of those 11 losses. All of them in the 5th inning or later. 6 of them in the 7th inning or later.

In case you’re new, this game is how like 70% of Phillies games went this season. -great starting pitching -offense can’t score -poor defense -poor base running -bullpen blows late lead -Phils lose

If the plan was to always use McFarlane and Duran as your 1-2 in the pen, why not let Painter get the 6th and maybe even the 7th depending on how it went? Bowlan was warming up in the 5th so clearly he was in the mix. Why not let McFarlane pitch the 7th and use Duran 8-9

And that’s now 2 years in a row Duran was brought into the game in the 7th inning and ended up allowing the tying/winning run. I get the bullpen struggles but it’s still too early to use him for multiple innings.
42
And here’s your reminder that the Phillies have NEVER won a Postseason series when losing game 1

I just don’t understand the point of bringing in Duran in so early. Even if he does give you 6 outs, he’s not pitching the 9th and you need someone else to close it, which already burned them against Atl a few weeks ago. This made no sense

In the 14 innings Jesus Luzardo pitched against the Braves this year, he’s allowed just 1 run. But the Phillies have only scored just 2 runs, both by Kyle Schwarber. Now is where it gets ugly. The Braves vs the bullpen.

I don’t understand the need for 3 C’s, none of which have been good offensively. At least Stubbs has been great with Nola and can run a little. Marchan only has 3 at bats in the last 2 months and doesn’t have a hit since the end of June. Just add someone to be a pinch runner

In their 24 September games, the Braves scored just 33 runs in the 1st 5 innings of those games, 20 of them coming in 3 games alone. They’ve scored 70 runs from the 6th on. It’s important for the Phillies to get an early lead over a team who’s been slow starters recently.
Replying to @JHawk26
The SP in those 7 games had a 1.83 ERA, a 1.70 if you count Tim Mayza’s 3 scoreless IP in the bullpen game. The Braves in general have just not scored a ton of runs early but getting things going against teams bullpens.

The Braves have dominated the Phils this season, going 9-4, but it was much closer than that, especially the 7 games over the last month where it was 4-3 Atl. The bullpen blew 3 of those 4 games. Most of those runs allowed were by players who won’t be pitching in this series

It won’t be easy, especially having to use Wheeler yesterday and getting Sale game 1, but these teams are much closer than you think. The Phillies have still never won a Postseason series when losing game 1 and you know the Braves don’t want to get knocked out by Philly again.

We all know the offensive struggles, but if they find themselves down after 5-6 innings, it’s probably over at that point. Score a few runs early, put the pressure on Atl, and ride your best RPs to close it out. 3-4 runs might be enough for either team to win these games.
