Put me in coach
But seriously, I think I could do an excellent job broadly representing Ethereum's interests in this kind of environment. Put me in

truly, never EVER thought i'd see the day where an EF ED talks about such things in such direct terms on the heels of a sea change announcement from the President of the United States
LFG!!!
Because of the reserves announcement now is the time - a short window of opportunity for everyone who builds large stable DeFi, institutional custody solutions, institutional staking, stablecoins, institutional wallets to present how mature, how secure, and how broadly integrated in global finance Ethereum ecosystem is. I cannot promise it would be delivered by the EF quickly enough, I am not sure if Etherealize is already fully operational to execute this within hours - so please go and do not wait for us. We will look how to improve it with EF but Ethereum is a sum of all great builders and it handles really high institutional stakes.

Tomasz is next level.
Wise and experienced, gets nuances, can build and lead effective and large teams, works harder than anyone else.
Looking forward to working with him, @hwwonx, @dannyryan in their next chapter and in accelerating Ethereum.
I was asked and accepted to be a co-Executive Director (alongside Hsiao Wei) of Ethereum Foundation. Officially starting around 17th of March (pending paperwork).
Please reach out via Telegram to @tkstanczak if you think we should talk / prefer async but a call also works calendly.com/tkstanczak/comm…
Looking forward to making Ethereum stronger than ever and supporting you all to succeed.

aren't based rollups just centralized sequencers given the proposers need to pick a gateway? decentralizing the gateway is the same as decentralizing the sequencer. something feels off to me.

This is why I always maintain that in crypto returning dividend >>> buyback and burn
Returning dividend to a token makes the token valuable, whereas buyback and burn doesn't
crypto founders:
if your token has no reason to be worth anything without a buyback, it's not worth anything with a buyback, either.
reduce the quantity of a valuable thing = make it more valuable.
stocks are already valuable without a buyback. if you induce scarcity (buybacks), it makes them more valuable by virtue of they're being less of them!
reduce the quantity of a valueless thing = incinerate money, and then be confused why "price discovery" isn't happening.
if you reduce the quantity of a worthless thing, you.... reduced the quantity? cool! now there's less of something that wasn't valuable to begin with.
circular reasoning: the token is valuable because sometimes we will reduce the supply of the token. there is absolutely zero reason for this instrument to be worth anything.
DeFi thinks this counts as returning capital, like a stock buyback does. it's utterly inane and disconnected from reality. it behooves no one to keep acting like this emperor is wearing clothes.
there is no such thing as 'price discovery' for a memecoin. this goes for memecoins wearing fancy suits (governance tokens) too.
a dog is not a horse because they both have four legs. a bagel is not a tire because they're both round.
and a valueless voting (suggestion) token is not equity because... it kind of looks like a stock if you squint and delude yourself.
Build For Weight, and end these completely inapplicable equity abstractions @BuildForWeight

.@zachxbt is a legend, using onchain forensics to keep bad actors accountable. He has returned over $350M to victims of hacks and scams. This is increasingly important as the industry grows.
We’re excited for zachxbt to be joining Paradigm as an advisor.
Nothing about his focus will change; we just want to support his ability to keep up the good work.

I think it's not a great framing for the reasons I already lay out in the thread.
Ethereum is trust technology in that there are certain transactions you can trustlessly verify on-chain.
This is extremely useful stuff, and fundamentally enables a Defi ecosystem to exist for the first time.
If you see Ethereum as the center, then some technologies expand _what things are trustlessly provable_.
Client-side ZK proving, rollups, and TEEs are three great examples.
But Eigenlayer just isn't. It's just the same things you can already prove on Ethereum and nothing more.
If you want more, you can designate a committee (aka AVS) to decide for you. But you can also do that on Ethereum today (MakerDAO has committee-based medianized oracles since 2018 or so)
That's why it's a pretty big stretch to say these things are the beginning of a new legal system or anything like that.
Yes, to the degree that two parties wanna enter into a contract and designate a trust-based committee as their dispute resolution system, they can do that. But this isn't uniquely enabled, or even improved in any (!) way, by restaking.

if you feel upset about the computer taking your coding job, just find yourself a 10x tougher problem and work together on solving it. this will reignite the flame, i promise.

This whole thing will make #Ethereum much stronger as with the Kintsugi devnets back in the day, we will mend the cracks with gold and be better prepared for any eventualities in the future
>Does it mean we should go slower?
>No.
Holesky and other testnets exist to find issues.
Excited that Reth & Erigon worked well, and IMO NBD for other teams. Shit happens. We fix and keep shipping as one team. Highly recommend Reth in prod.
Would it have been better had no client had a bug?
Sure.
Was the bug easy to find?
Yes.
Does it mean we should go slower?
No.

Just to fill you in: I left the EF last year due to health issues and in an attempt to clear my head after working my ass off exclusively at the EF and on Ethereum for seven years.
I stepped aside, and the EF and the broader Ethereum ecosystem moved on without missing a beat—new leaders stepped up, and the machine kept running.
I got the much needed time to reflect without being so close to the gears of the machine. In my reflections, I got excited about the EF potentially entering a new era, not a full departure from prior strategy and philosophy, but an evolution to meet the world as it is today and as it has greatly changed over the past decade.
I opened a dialogue with Vitalik and others at the EF about such changes and the possibility of being involved in this new era. These discussions started long before this past week and are ongoing.
I’m grateful for the overwhelming support I’ve received from Twitter and many longtime friends and colleagues. However, some of the discourse has turned counterproductive. These are real people attempting to sort through and do what is best. With or without me, the EF is evolving and for the better. You’ve been heard, but vitriol is ultimately harmful to this process.
I believe in a community that fights its battles with respect and reason. So, fight for what you believe in, but please take the high road.

Excited to announce that @ralexstokes and I are moving to the position of EF Research co-leads!
With this new role, I hope to accelerate pragmatic research for Ethereum and find more ways for us to involve the ecosystem in our many exciting projects.
What is EF Research?
Starting with a single original "Research team" at the Ethereum Foundation @ethereumfndn, a group of 5 teams has come to be known as "EF Research". Today, these 5 teams are:
- Applied Research Group (ARG): Emphasis on getting research ideas into production, data engineering (the famous dotpics! dotpics.info) and specifications, with a new bend towards applied cryptography
- Consensus R&D: The root from which more teams appeared, focusing among (many) other things on consensus, specifications of PoS Ethereum, and protocol-driven research
- Cryptography: A team involved in delivering cutting-edge, secure cryptography for use by the protocol. See also crypto.ethereum.org
- Protocol Security: Wide range of expertise to keep Ethereum safe, from code reviews to advanced tooling, simulations and bug bounty programs. See also github.com/ethereum/protocol…
- Robust Incentives Group (RIG): A team concerned with the mechanisms and economics powering the Ethereum protocol. See also rig.ethereum.org
What changes now?
- Our aim with Alex is to ensure that EFR is always at its best, internally and externally. Alex and I are starting a new team named "ResearchOps", focused on supporting the incredible work done by members of EFR, and more broadly on the delivery of research for Ethereum and its community.
- I am moving away from my role as team lead of RIG. I am so proud of what our team has accomplished, and RIG is not done yet. To continue this work, @casparschwa is taking over as team lead, I’m excited to see where he takes the group and its members!
What's next?
For me the direction is clear: Build a world computer for all to use. This means a censorship-resistant L1 at the efficiency frontier, and scale for L2s to onboard as many economies as we can imagine. Some big ticket items are of course SSF, DAS, EL R&D, FOCIL, ZK, PQ… you know the list :)
Research is part of this process, and researching in public for Ethereum and its community is close to my heart. We’ll be experimenting with different ideas, and we'll also keep our ear to the ground. My DMs are always open to chat, and feel free to AMA in the replies here.
