The latest beta version of RuntimeViewer 3.0 has been released. This version offers an Xcode-level search experience and optimizes interoperability between ObjC and Swift; ObjC implementations in Swift are now recognized correctly. For more details, please see the release notes.

LookInside 3.0 is here! 🎉
We've rewritten the Mac app in Swift and added SwiftUI gesture debugging:

Building a GUI panel for it. The backend is ready.
Trying to integrate it with the GUI element.
Let's ship it in the next release of LookInside. 👊

MCP is available in LookInside 2.3.11+.
Connect Codex, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, or any MCP client to inspect a live iOS or macOS app: hierarchy, views, screenshots, snapshots, and requested changes—all locally.

This annoying bug dates back to at least macOS 10.15. Before macOS 26, Finder showed a generic file icon; now it displays the app’s full-color icon instead.
Whenever a Finder Sync extension monitors the root of a volume, Finder uses the containing app’s icon for that volume. I built a tool that injects code into Finder and overrides its icon-selection logic—and finally, the beautiful volume icon is back.
NSOpenPanel and NSSavePanel use FinderKit, so they’re affected too. Unfortunately, almost every app has its own Open/Save Panel service, making it impractical to inject into all of them.
I’ll file feedback with Apple, though I’m not optimistic they’ll fix it.🫠
The next version of RuntimeViewer will significantly reduce memory usage, and UI operations will be smoother. Additionally, we have integrated Xcode's SourceEditor framework, which will provide the same browsing experience as Xcode.
RuntimeViewer version 2.1 has been released with many new features, such as Swift generic specialization, type relationships (class inheritance and protocol conformance), batch export of multiple image data, jump to definition for Swift, and added navigation and multi-tab functionality.

To be clear, OpenSwiftUI actual already have basic Linux / Android / Web support to render text / color etc stuff.
And they all share the same DSL parser and display list abstraction.
I plan to integrate them into main by default this year.
A new app is about to be released that can override any form of DockIcon. Many apps use DockTile Plugins to customize their icons, which means simply modifying them in the Finder Info interface will not take effect.
Note: SIP needs to be disabled to use it due to the need for code injection changes to the Dock.
