I have never ever liked Merino in this role, yet for 3 seasons in a row now we are seeing it again. It doesn’t work. That furthest midfield position is for MØ, Eze or Dowman. Merino is either a striker or a secondary midfielder, he’s not a CAM.

Man City should be made to start from the very bottom of the footballing pyramid. It won’t happen, but that’s what they deserve for almost a decade of cheating at such a scale. Cheating that has been the bedrock for all their recent success. They are a disgrace to football.
