This is maddening.
That said, if Notre Dame scores a TD instead of settling for a FG on either short-field drive, this is a non-issue.
If Carr doesn't fumble, it's a non-issue.
A positive read is that Notre Dame played like a C- game and lost on the last play.
Don't leave it up to officials. Don't leave doubt.

As some have noted, there was indeed :01 on the bug clock when the pass hit the ground (BYU/ND). Replay should have reviewed to determine if the in-stadium clock was at :01 at that point and if so, ND would have had one more play.

There is absolutely one second left when the ball hits the ground, from two different angles.
@Big12Conference no review if there was any time on the clock?
The @NCAA gave Michigan an extra second and took away one from Notre Dame.
Tough one.

Disgusting no-call on the last play of the game
First Florida State
Now Notre Dame
These referees can’t keep getting away with this

Never been a Notre Dame apologist.
But…
They play 10 P4 opponents, more than some can say.
They play no FCS opponents.
Wisconsin is better than you think.
SMU is ranked.
North Carolina may not be a train wreck.
Who knew Michigan State would have a coaching change?
Notre Dame is doing what they should against inferior competition. Let’s see how the schedule looks in the rear view.

According to FPI, Notre Dame's current SOS ranks 60th. That's ahead of the following Power 4 programs:
Miami
SMU
Nebraska
Oklahoma St
Syracuse
Texas Tech
Boston College
Washington
Minnesota
Arizona
Georgia Tech
Cal
West Virginia
Cincinnati
BYU
Baylor
Pitt
Kansas State
Virginia
Virginia Tech
Utah
Duke
Their schedules aren't embarrassments, however.

The thing about 24 that bothers me most is…
Who is this for?
It’s not because TV was begging for it. ESPN had to be convinced.
It’s not for a boatload of new cash. Losing conf champ games is gonna make this a minimal gain.
It’s not because the 22nd team has any shot at a natty. It doesn’t.
It’s certainly not done with the health, safety, or academic success of the players in mind since they don’t even get a say in this.
It’s entirely to appease the people donating the money that keeps a financially irresponsible business model afloat. It’s discounting success so schools can say “look what your donation bought.”
It’s an industry hellbent on treating investors and bosses as the customer, and customers as an infinite resource that will keep coming back no matter what.

Don't get mad that a team has a guarantee that if it was top 12, it makes a 12 team CFP.
Did we forget that the 2025 11th and 12th CFP teams were actually ranked 20th and 24th in the CFP rankings?
Or in 2024 when the 16th ranked team got the 12th seed?

ND lost to a ranked playoff team by 1 last year and dropped 16 spots.
Texas loses to a bad Oklahoma team by 3 and drop 6 spots
Do with that information what you will – at Jefferson, IN

Notre Dame: No. 2 offense, No. 1 defense.
Ohio State: No. 5 in both.
Florida: No. 6 offense, No. 88 defense.
All 138 teams on the PEM chart after Week 6. Right = better offense. Up = better defense. Who is too one-sided?

#49ers Brock Purdy has a 105.7 career passer rating on 1,466 attempts. He qualifies for all-time leaderboard with 34 more attempts. He could go 0 for 34 with 2 INTs this week and would still rank ahead of 2nd place Lamar Jackson's current 102.7 rating.
