ONE FREE CALL = 500,000 views
Derek was unsure where his focus should be for months, leading to a lack of uploads.
After one call, I identified the content that he should invest his time into, how to package them and how to tell a story through his videos.
I’m begging every YouTube strategist to replace Red Bull and Monster with Protein Drinks and Water…
And to replace 80% of gaming and streaming leisure with hiking, biking and gym workouts.
Please get in 10K-15K steps outside, and do pull-ups and dead hangs to counter spinal compression and poor circulation.
(You’re losing inches of height the more you just sit in a chair)
Take a non work trip for 7-10 days every single quarter.
Spend more time with your parents (while you can).
Cook most of your meals or hire someone to do meal prep.
Only do fancy dinner for business, or twice a month… live on protein and fiber intense meals and fuel the gym sessions.
The fancy dinner isn’t about your bank account, it’s about your body fat %…
Cut it down to 14%, ideally 12%.
Get blood work done twice a year.
Get a physical NOW if you haven’t done one this year.
No coffee or caffeine after 11am.
No more late night sessions, 8 hours of sleep is mandatory.
Gym workouts are not skipped in the hotel. It’s 3x to 5x per week, non-negotiable.
Your health is your single most important asset.
Act accordingly.
You should be able to pass military PT for your age.

Most creators can’t answer the ONE question that matters most...
Why should someone watch you? “I make good videos” isn’t a good answer.

Why should someone watch you? “I make good videos” isn’t a good answer.
No one really knows it's good until they’ve clicked. So your reason has to show up in the packaging...
Some things to think about when packaging your next video:
1. are you the expert in the topic?
2. do you have an angle nobody else in your niche has? 3. do you solve a specific problem/pain point in your video?
4. do you have an authoritative position considering the information you will be giving?
If so, communicate this in the packaging rather than relying on a person to click and find out in the video!
This can either be in the title or thumbnail!

HOW TO GET AN EXTRA 1.8M VIEWS
1. Find different composition ideas using 1of10 Optimize feature which scans your video and finds different angles to your current title/thumbnail.
2. Use 1of10 Thumbnail Generator to create a new polished thumbnail.
It ACTUALLY works and just takes a few minutes!
"Hey JD, how do you always get a banger video within the first 2 uploads working with a new client?"
Well, here's the EXACT 5 things I look at doing first:
1. Find your unique angle
- What makes you different / interesting from others in your niche
- Do you have a contrary opinion to others in your space?
- Do you have unique access and/or insight into something that not many others do?
2. Put your validation IN THE PACKAGING
- Don't just say it in the video, tell it in the packaging!
- You've been a personal trainer for 3 years? - Front-load it in the title or add it as an annotation to you in the thumbnail
3. Define your audience
- Who are your videos for?
- What are their viewing habits?
- What are their specific pain points?
4. Double down on your most popular videos
- If your most popular video is "how to blow up on YouTube", you can remake the video with the same information but package it differently
- Don't feel like that you are unable to repeat information (you'd be surprised how little viewers end up seeing both, let alone watching both)
5. Find a killer bucket
- Identify what topics and/or video formats do well for you - do it for your next video
- Ensure they are reputable formats, not just one-off hits.
Checking your analytics is holding you back.
Views are the only metric that tells you whether a video worked. Everything else delivers insight but aren't things that you should base decisions entirely off of.
For example, people obsess over CTR but most of the time it’s noise.
It fluctuates with:
1. Which audience YouTube is testing you against
2. Traffic source (browse vs. suggested vs. search)
3. Reach (it drops as YouTube pushes you to colder viewers)
4. Time of day / day of upload (give your videos atleast 24 hours before changing packaging)
You might have your most viewed video ever while it has the lowest CTR!
Same goes for retention, impressions and your 1/10 ranking. There are too many variables to read into one specifically.
Every hour you spend staring at analytics is an hour you’re not spending on the next video.
Avoid analysis paralysis!

Top YouTube strategists don't succeed by moving immovable objects.
Many people forget this.
I won awards and turned long-term clients into business partners by investing time and energy in YouTube creators who just need a nudge to move faster.
Not the ones who say they want to achieve xyz crazy goal, but whose output doesn't match what that goal requires.
That's also why I don't make the most money in this space, even though my public success is more proven than many competitors who might do 2-10x my MRR.
I don't care about 'money-maxxing'. I care about working for 5+ years with the same creator who can leave at any time but still chooses to stay in the trenches with me because I am being paid to be wrong at a lower rate than the average human.
This only happens when you focus on building relationships that go beyond thumbnails and edit feedback.
If you are a creator, ask yourself this before you work with a strategist:
Do I feel I would stick by this strategist even if we have a bad month, simply because of the value they add at every level?
If you are a strategist who wants to do this for the next ten years, ask yourself:
Am I willing to show up beyond deliverables for this creator because I am invested in their success, to the point where how much money I make from them today isn't my main motivator?
VidSummit 2026 was wild.
After 2 days of channel reviews, I can wholeheartedly say that there is way more great content being made than you even realize.
So many small channels that are going to blow up.
Made some GREAT connections that made the entire trip worth it!
And of course always amazing syncing up with the @1of10media team! Always so much fun with you guys @dreamstrike_ @xigeorgeyt @Richard_YTS @CharlieHoward_ @RiadEtm
When I made short form Valorant & CS content I used to mislabel the bomb sites in the text caption on purpose. Engagement was insane. People love correcting others
This seemed to hit the YouTube automation community lol. These are not AI avatars LOL. These are real creators who will always win over your ai slop in the end.
