Most people still do not get that Covid is airborne, and I watched a nurse figure it out mid wipe this morning. I am at my weekly GLP 1 shot appointment before work. It’s 8am, and I am still trying to be awake and so is everyone behind the front desk. The nurse comes to get me and she is already flustered. Shoulders up to her ears, sighing loud enough for the whole waiting room to hear, holding that big canister of Lysol wipes like a weapon. I walk into the exam room and there is this little machine on the counter glowing bright pink, puffing out this thick foggy mist that smells like fake strawberries. Like a tiny rave humidifier. As if scented fog is going to make the whole room germ free. I have no idea what that thing is supposed to do, but it is clearly part of the plan. It was like Bath and Body Works got put in charge of infection control and decided strawberry scent was the answer. She does not even say good morning. She just starts wiping. Hard circles on the exam chair and arm rests. Then the little side table. The door handle. And the back of the door handle. I ask her what happened. "I am SO tired of these people coming up in here sick!!! Why can't people just stay home when they sick?! Ugh and of course it was all that gunky nasty upper respiratory stuff. Coughing and sniffling up in my face!" And she keeps wiping, wiping, wiping, while that pink machine keeps puffing that strawberry fog behind her like it is doing something. It just came out. I said, "It is airborne though." She freezes. Hand mid air over the chair, wipe dripping. She looks at me. Looks at the wipe. Eyes locked still at the handle she just bleached. "Yeah," she says. "Yeah, it is." You could see it land. That split second where her face went from annoyed to OH S*IT. That look of wait, WHAT am I actually doing right now? That WOW, this sucks. Because that is the part most people never digested. They spent years thinking it lives on tables and chairs and doorknobs, so if they just wipe hard and spray enough pretty smelling fog they will be safe. But it does not live on the table. It does not disappear in that pink mist. It lives in the air they just shared in that tiny room with no open window or HEPAS. Until they get that Covid is airborne, and not a surface thing, or a washing hands thing, and not a bad smell you can cover up with strawberry fog, but is an invisible shared air thing, they are going to keep scrubbing surfaces while breathing each others uncleaned air.

When I talk to people about the ongoing impact of COVID, I find it helpful to lead with a concrete, undeniable indicator, which is that there are about 3,000,000 more disabled workers in the US than at pandemic onset.
PMC COVlD Update, Week of Oct 12, 2026 (Posted 48 hrs early) 🔸Levels revised upward for a double-peak 🔸39-state outbreak (see ALT) 🔸PMC estimates 750,000 new daily infections, & 1 in 65 people actively infectious 🔸1st time starting Oct w/rising levels since 2020 1/🧵

Sad state of affairs when the nurse doing my flu jab says "Wouldn't you rather just have covid than the covid jab?" 🤯🤦🏼‍♀️ No, no thank you. Look at the multisystem effects of covid, the impact on T cells, p53 suppression, cancer rates, long covid... I'd take the jab every time.

I just don't find "COVID doesn't kill people anymore" a particularly compelling argument for why we shouldn't mask given that the biggest impact COVID has made on my health is not that it killed me.

Today, the Boston Globe committed a journalistic error of confusing reported COVlD cases with actual transmission. In the county they were covering (Franklin, MA), levels are near-identical to the national average *during a COVlD wave.* Please share widely.
PMC COVlD Update, Sep 21, 2026 (US) 🔥13th COVlD wave 🔥40 states/territories with outbreaks (see Alt text) 🔥3.8 million estimated weekly infections 🔥Outbreaks in NYC 🔥Extremely high levels on the Big Island of HI Mask up and get boosted. 🧵THREAD (1/4)

The news of Dolly Parton’s passing is devastating. I had the extraordinary experience of working with her on The Orville, and it was a joy to discover that she really was exactly the person we all hoped she was. Her kindness, generosity, and authenticity were evident from moment one, and the benign yet assured command she maintained over her empire was obvious from the genuine love and trust you could see from everyone who worked for her. The world is a dimmer place today without her.

The belief that rejecting decades of evidence makes you a critical thinker may be one of the strangest intellectual inversions of the social media age. We have confused distrust with intelligence, contrarianism with skepticism, and confidence with expertise.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

100,000 people died of Covid in Florida whose population is 24Million 20,000 people died of Covid in Australia whose population is 28 Million So Florida had 6 times the death rate of Australia That is what resisting masks and lockdowns did for Florida
Ron DeSantis still doesn’t get enough credit for what he did during COVID. Despite enormous pressure from Fauci and his political and media partners, DeSantis ended masks, resisted lockdowns, and opened schools Proved Fauci had no idea what he was doing

Camp concluded today. Exactly zero children & adults complained of wearing masks. Just kids being kids, having a blast, looking forward to next summer, learning community care, beginning to see decisions as moral decisions.
New Orleans has one of the few day camps in the US that use universal COVlD precautions so that children do not get SARS-CoV-2 infections in perpetuity.
