Friends, when Paul says, “Have no anxiety at all,” he doesn’t mean eliminating all fear and worry. And the clue is in what he says next: “But in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.” Paul knows that, like an ocean, the surface of our lives will always have crashing waves and winds. But just as the ocean’s depths remain perfectly serene despite the storm above, we, too, can find peace by moving to a deeper and more central place: the place where you are here and now being created by God. Root your life in Christ—and you will find serenity despite any and all anxiety.
