I've probably infuriated more people with replies about economics than any other topic. It's ALWAYS about left or right, and the other side is the bad guys.
Actual economic isn't about left or right, though. You can learn it WITHOUT political ideology.

I guess I'm done with this platform. Two weeks ago I got a notice that, for unspecified reasons, I had a "temporary label," i.e. I was a ghost now. No explanation, no duration, just a suggestion that if I pay them it will get better.
How about no.
People who have accepted despair-porn propaganda as The Truth will use very...interesting...reasoning to rationalize ignoring or rejecting evidence that suggests we are not in fact sliding toward a Dickensian nightmare.

I know what real means. I'm talking about minus rising housing and food costs which can rise more than inflation. Income adjusted for inflation doesn't mean your expenses are taken into account. Talking about net.

Some people wouldn't recognize tyranny if it stole 40% of their labor, controlled every aspect of their life through threats of violence, demanded that they get a permission slip from their rulers to pursue even the most mundane endeavors, and spied on their every movement
This is why we can't have nice things, America.
Sometimes the Constitution is inconvenient for the government. It's supposed to be. The people who want to disregard it never seem to think ahead to when the government is controlled by people they hate.
Hey @Fidelity, as someone who does some options trading I just want to assure you that the last day of the week is PERFECT for an unheralded interface tweak and some under-the-hood changes that make lag a bigger issue than before. I'm really enjoying the additional challenge.
I actually sometimes get sad when I get blocked. Not because my feelings are hurt, but because it means the person blocking actually BELIEVES what they're saying, despite the evidence against it. There's a lot of what I think of as "flat-earth reasoning" on social media.
Oh dear...someone's ideologically driven whining didn't get her the validation she was hoping for, so she shut off replies.
I've been amazed by how childish, cowardly, intellectually dishonest, and just plain dimwitted so many educated-on-paper people are on social media.

Most of them are good and decent people as long as you avoid discussing theology with them. Theologically, they don't know how to respond rationally to anything from outside their bubble, so they generally don't react well to it.
Today I learned that my resistance to the "Everything Karl Marx Says Is True, Period" argument is NOT the result of my background (not degree, this guy is just confused) in economics.
It's ACKSHUWELLY because I don't have enough FAITH.
Normalize blocking people who turn off replies when their rants are answered with unwanted facts instead of the validation they wanted. You're not going to learn anything useful from them, and vice versa.
We need to stop referring to them as "MAGA" and use the more accurate term "Trumpist" instead. They're not interested in making America great, they just want to see Trump 'win.' Whether he pretends to believe the things he pretended to believe two years ago is irrelevant.

Soooo everybody understands we're most definitely not doing the whole "drain the swamp" thing at this point, correct?

Every election there are hundreds of Massie’s running for office throughout America.
They are underfunded, ignored by the media and fought just to be on the ballot; yet are principled, pro liberty individuals who possess the vision needed to save this Republic.
You will be told selecting them is “throwing your vote away.”
You are told this by people who throw away the country itself, little by little, every election.
Don’t listen to them.

Most ppl literally rely on wages to access food, housing, healthcare, transportation, etc. That means ppl who control capital and employment have power over everyone else’s material conditions. Thats what structural dependency is. Ik this might be hard for u to comprehend
I'm far from Kentucky, but like many Americans I'm watching this with great interest. It's a test of the Trump cult's power outside of the federal government, and by extension an indication of whether the Republican Party can be salvaged.
1) Get mad based on a headline and your knee-jerk partisan allegiance
2) Angrily tweet about it without bothering to read the opinion or even understand the law
3) Be corrected by a bunch of less-ignorant people
4) Turn off replies so you can sulk in peace
This is what tax returns looked like shortly after the 16th amendment. The standard deduction of $3,000 is the equivalent of almost $100,000 today. The highest rate is a single digit.
It's always "just on the wealthy"...until it's not. Don't be fooled.

The American left: "The US is a capitalist country and it's a disaster!"
The American right: "The US is a capitalist country and it's working great!"
Me: "Um...guys..."
