8,922 UK government contracts end in the next 6 months. When a contract ends, the buyer usually runs a new tender. Sell to State shows which contracts end soon, so you can meet the buyer and prepare your bid before the tender is out.

In June, with support from his pastor at Calvary Chapel, young Christian Merlin Kraft arranged a beach baptism at Jennycliff in Plymouth. 28 people turned up and were baptised in the sea. Merlin then put out a call on social media. "If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ and want to publicly declare that faith through baptism, come to Bigbury-on-Sea in Devon on Saturday 5th September, you are welcome." A man came from Scotland, an old lady came from Ireland. A couple from Leeds walked for three hours through fields after getting off the bus in the wrong place. But they all made it, and this time an incredible 170 people were baptised. Then, Merlin decided to hold another public baptism on Saturday 10th October at Bridlington Beach, 400 miles north. Once again the call went out and this is what happened. Please follow Merlin here @BibleLadUK and keep an eye out for the next event. Have a lovely week ❤️

Every time something scarce became abundant, the world changed so fast that the people living through it mistook the beginning for the end. Food was scarce for a hundred thousand years. Agriculture made it abundant, and people who had spent every waking hour chasing their next meal suddenly had something they had never owned before. Time. That time became villages. The villages became cities. The cities became language carved into clay, and then law. Nobody standing in a wheat field understood they were building Rome. Information was scarce for millennia. The printing press made it abundant. The church lost its monopoly on knowledge, and within two centuries every throne in Europe was shaking. Nobody pulling letters from a press understood they were ending the divine right of kings. Energy was scarce until we learned to crack the earth open. Coal and oil made it abundant, and a single person could suddenly command the force of a thousand. Within one generation the entire structure of work turned inside out. Nobody shoveling coal understood they were building the middle class. The pattern never changes. A resource that was hoarded becomes available. The people who held it resist. The structures built on that scarcity fall. And whatever rises in their place is invisible from where everyone is standing. Here is the part almost everyone misses. Information stopped being scarce a long time ago. The library, the search engine, the endless feed. We have been drowning in information for decades, and it never set anyone free, because information just sits there. It answers only the question you already knew how to ask. Intelligence was the thing still locked away. A mind on the other side. Something that explains, argues back, catches your mistake, and meets you exactly where you are standing. The part that bends toward you instead of forcing you to bend toward it. That is what broke open. For the first time, a person with nothing but curiosity and a connection can reach an intelligence that teaches, challenges, and builds alongside them in real time. No tuition. No admissions office. No permission. The distance between what a person can imagine and what they can actually make is collapsing in front of us. And the people most threatened by that are not the ones without talent. They are the ones whose entire standing depends on talent staying rare. Every credential, every hierarchy, every quiet system that decided who was allowed to build and who was told to watch, is resting on a foundation dissolving underneath it. They will fight it. They always do. The church fought the press. The aristocracy fought the vote. The owners fought the union. Every single time a scarce thing became abundant, the ones who controlled it warned everyone else that the sky was falling. The sky was never falling. The ceiling was lifting. And the people underneath it, the ones who had been told their whole lives that the ceiling was the sky, finally looked up and saw nothing there to stop them. That is what is happening right now. Intelligence was never rare. Access to it was. Access just became free. Whatever gets built in the next ten years will not come from the rooms we are all watching. It will come from someone who was never supposed to have the tools, who right now has no idea that the thing they are doing has a name, or a scale, or a future. Same as the wheat field. Same as the press. Same as the coal. We never recognize Rome while we are still building it.

"Socialism heroically fights problems unknown in any other system." Yes – this guy was one of our most brilliant intellectuals. Meaning a guy producing real understanding – not vapid commentary dressed up as depth. One sentence of his explains more than a shelf of political science. 1. The law. First the system creates the problem. Then it creates an office to fight the problem. Then it blames the people for the problem. Then it asks for more power to fight harder. Every step looks like a solution, and the whole thing is a trap. 2. The proof. In Poland we lived under these absurdities for 45 years. The state fixed the price of meat, so meat disappeared. Then came ration cards for meat. Then people sold meat privately at its real price, so the state made that a crime called "speculation" and set up special bodies to hunt the speculators. It was a problem unknown in any other system, and the state fought it heroically. 3. The queue. We got to know the machine deeply, from the inside, standing in line. You queued first and asked what was being sold later. People walked home wearing toilet paper rolls on a string around their necks, like trophies. And we learned to laugh about it. A man walks into a shop: "No meat?" "No, sir, here we have no fish. No meat is across the street." 4. The merriest barrack. We were called the merriest barrack in the communist camp. Other barracks were grimmer. We laughed at the queues, at the Party, and at ourselves, with jokes whispered at work and told loudly at weddings. The system had the army, the police and the press. We had the punchline. 5. The joke as knowledge. The laughter was not an escape. It was understanding. A good joke is a model of the system that fits into ten seconds. "They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work" is a whole economics textbook in one line. The communists could censor newspapers, but they could never censor the joke. 6. The man. Stefan Kisielewski, known as Kisiel – the name of a sweet fruit jelly. He was a composer and a columnist, and readers opened the Catholic weekly from the last page, where his column was. He was the only public figure in communist Poland to openly praise capitalism from the parliament rostrum. In 1968 he called the regime a dictatorship of dimwits. Days later, "unknown attackers" beat him in the street. The tongue out was his method: a regime that demands to be taken seriously fears nothing more than a man who laughs at it – and is right. 7. The West today. Germany shut down its nuclear plants, then fought an energy crisis. Berlin capped rents, then fought a shortage of flats. Brussels writes rules that strangle industry, then launches plans to save European competitiveness. Each time, the problem is new to them. It was not new to us. We laughed because we knew. The West does not laugh yet, because it still believes. The jokes come later – right after the queues.
Parkinson’s Law – Why the State Bureaucracy Grows When the Work Shrinks In 1955, a British naval historian wrote a joke for The Economist. Seventy years later, it remains one of the most accurate descriptions of the modern state ever written. Everyone knows the slogan: work expands to fill the time available. Almost no one knows the mechanism underneath it. That mechanism explains Europe. 1. The evidence. Between 1914 and 1928, the Royal Navy lost two thirds of its largest warships. Over the same years the Admiralty – the office that ran the ships – grew by three quarters. There were fewer ships and more men behind desks. Then there was the Colonial Office, which kept growing while the colonies left one by one. It was hiring while the empire was shrinking. 2. The first mechanism. An official who feels overworked has three choices. He can resign, he can share the work with a colleague, or he can ask for two subordinates. He never chooses the colleague, because a colleague is a rival. Two subordinates are a rank. So one tired man becomes three. Then each of the two subordinates feels tired. 3. The second mechanism. Seven people now do what one did, and they keep each other busy with drafts, approvals, and comments on the approvals. Everyone works hard, and nothing is produced. You have been in this meeting. You have been copied on this email. You have watched three people sign the form that one person filled in. 4. The law of triviality. Parkinson noticed that a committee will approve a nuclear reactor in minutes, because nobody understands it. The same committee will debate the bicycle shed for an hour, because everybody does. Bureaucracy does not avoid the important question by accident. It avoids it by design – the small question carries no risk, and on the big one, someone’s name goes on the decision. 5. The ratchet. A business that fails closes. A department that fails gets a bigger budget, because the problem is now bigger. Failure is the bureaucracy’s best argument for itself. This is why the state never shrinks on its own: every problem it does not solve becomes a new office for solving it. 6. The civilizational lesson. Burnham described the managers taking over. Parkinson showed how they breed. Put the two together and you get Brussels. You get France, where the state spends more than half of everything the country produces and still cannot fix a hospital. This is not because the people inside are wicked. It is because the machine works exactly as Parkinson said it would. 7. The vindication. Parkinson was dismissed as a humorist. Then Milei cut Argentina’s ministries in half – and the country did not collapse. It barely noticed, except on the bill. The lesson is simple: you cannot reform a bureaucracy by asking it what to cut. It will always propose to cut the ships – and hire someone to manage the cut.

If you want Christendom back, go to Church. I know the churches are mostly full of awful people but that’s no excuse. Go to church. Demand Christian doctrine and the liturgy that embodies it. Demand all the things that Christianity gave to civilisation. Choirs, architecture, schools, music, faith hope and charity. All these things will return but only if you go to church.
