Things aren't looking good for the new (queer-coded) Street Fighter movie.
Many people are reportedly walking out due to the over the top campy garbage, along with exaggerated homoerotic subtext.
Examples cited by the viewers include Eric Andre's character licking and kissing boots, foot fetish gags with M. Bison, lingering body shots on the male character's "bodies", and queer-coded framing with characters like Vega.
The director describes it as being unapologetically horny, kinky, and with fan service... but evidently it's all the wrong kind. The kind of fan service that appeals to gay men, and not the predominantly straight male fans.
When characters like Cammy and Chun-Li are on screen, the female characters' fan service scenes are lacking... pretty much the focus on fan service is male-on-male kink-infected trash. There was so much focus on Callina Liang's thighs in the marketing, and yet in the movie the fan service of her thighs was at best tame.
It's no wonder people are walking out. No straight man is gonna want to watch two men having homoerotic tension, unironically.
Even Rotten Tomatoes' score is low, currently sitting at only ~40% on the critic score and ~80% on the audience score. Even the critics are panning the inherent story, tonal mismatch with the franchise, and overall poor action.
Theaters are also reporting soft ticket sales and some areas with nearly empty seats on a Friday night.

When officers asked for her phone, she handed it over and they did not find any video or photos of the jurors or Clancy. When they asked if they could look at her deleted folder she said she didn’t know how to do it. They searched the deleted folder and found a deleted VIDEO of the jurors leaving the courthouse.
The judge denied the $50,000 cash bail.
