just to set the record straight:
building Sett started after the feb layoffs, he wasn't always planned or delayed. he's coming out (along with The Climb) because the dev team took a big swing, rallied (despite half the team being gone) and built him in 6mo

This cast wasn’t just for me.
It was for every single trans person, every single queer Pokémon fan, to feel seen in a world that feels more hostile than it’s been in a long time.
Pokémon is for everyone. That includes all of you 🩵🤍🩷

When I first started working on the TV show, I got to meet Carter. He knew I was a fan and made time to talk with me about the earlier days of the production. He was a generous and kind man, and I enjoyed getting to know him better over the years.
A true loss❤️
We are deeply saddened by the passing of James Carter Cathcart, the voice behind Professor Oak, Gary Oak, James and Meowth of Team Rocket, and other iconic characters for the Pokémon animated series over many years.
In addition to his voice work, James provided over 700 episodes of scripts for the animated series, shaping the stories that defined generations of fans. From the very first episode to the final journeys, James brought warmth, humor, and unforgettable charm to the world of Pokémon. His talent gave life to some of our most beloved characters, and his legacy will continue to reach the hearts of Trainers everywhere.
James’s voice will always be part of our adventure. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends.
