Congratulations to our next Senator @RoyCooperNC. I look forward to working with him during the transition. Representing the Old North State in the world’s most deliberative body is an honor of a lifetime and Susan and I wish Roy and Kristin the very best in the years ahead.

For those consulting Grok and ChatGPT for timing advice, it's this simple: the time to cut ties with the listless lame duck is now. In the last week we've run into multiple longtime loud MAGA folks who suddenly now say they never "really" supporting the big guy.

Silenced by one's own whimper. Sad.
From the outset, Senator @JohnCornyn and I were clear that we needed a written document addressing our concerns on the IRS audit agreement and the anti-weaponization fund that included constraining the scope of audit protection by limiting it to the parties of the Settlement Agreement and legally ending the anti-weaponization fund. We are pleased that the Department of Justice has issued a formal order terminating the anti-weaponization fund. Additionally, the Department has acknowledged in a binding written order that the audit settlement is limited to the plaintiffs and the scope does not extend beyond the defendants in the lawsuit, the IRS and the Treasury, addressing concerns that multiple of our Republican colleagues share. We want to express our gratitude to Mr. Blanche and his staff for working with us on this, and we look forward to voting to advance his nomination out of the Senate Judiciary Committee soon.

This "democratically elected" assertion instantly unravels with even the lightest pull on the thread. Iran's prime minister was not "democratically elected." Period.

And those with a concealed carry permit are required to have ID on them which Alex Pritti did not thus his carrying a firearm was illegal at the time

Didn't have "Heritage quietly gets on board with abolishing the Second Amendment" on the old bingo card.
You have the right to peacefully protest. You do not have the right to obstruct law enforcement operations. With certain exceptions, you have the right to carry a firearm. You do not have the right to lay hands on law enforcement or resist arrest. If you obstruct law enforcement, lay hands on an officer, or resist arrest while carrying a firearm, you endanger the lives of law enforcement personnel and increase the likelihood of being met with lethal force. This isn’t complicated, though some on the Left and the Right with ulterior motives would like it to be.

Speaking of disservices to legacies, here we have a retiring senator who can't bring himself to levy anything more than bad-faith, back-handed criticisms at a syphilitic circus clown.
There must be a thorough and impartial investigation into yesterday’s Minneapolis shooting, which is the basic standard that law enforcement and the American people expect following any officer-involved shooting. For this specific incident, that requires cooperation and transparency between federal, state, and local law enforcement. Any administration official who rushes to judgment and tries to shut down an investigation before it begins are doing an incredible disservice to the nation and to President Trump’s legacy.

A firearm somehow "loaded with two full magazines" sounds like something you'd hear at a hysterical @SenWarren presser. This guy's the FBI director.
🚨 JUST IN: FBI Director Kash Patel drops STRAIGHT TRUTH NUKE "NO ONE who wants to be peaceful shows up at a protest with a firearm that is loaded with two full magazines! That is NOT a peaceful protest, and you do not get to touch law enforcement." "You do that anywhere, this FBI is going to be leading the charge to arrest those." @FBIDirectorKash

The Second Amendment protects the right to Keep and Bear Arms in both public places and the home (see NYSPRA v Bruen, and D.C. v Heller). Protesters (or observers) are legally allowed to bring weapons to defend themselves at protests that can turn violent (Kyle Rittenhouse) kenoshanews.com/news/local/cri…

Doing more damage to the Second Amendment than a Hillary Clinton administration could've even dreamed of.
If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you. Don’t do it!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The U.S. Constitution (particularly the 2nd, 4th, and 14th amendments) prohibit officers from shooting citizens merely for possessing a weapon that is not an “imminent threat”. This was reaffirmed in Graham v Connor, which says force must be reasonable. supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/… justice.gov/jm/1-16000-dep…. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitut…

I love the bold optimism of expecting a post-Trump GOP will exist at all. (And I hope it does.) The current GOP track makes the DNC's post-Obama values-and-money vacuum in 2016 seem trivial. The Dems slid into a slumber; we are leaning into a comatose tailspin.
The post-Trump GOP is going to have to have to stop clowning and realize Trumpism only works for Trump and whoever happens to be on the same ballot with him.

This. Look, fair credit to @KevinRobertsTX for attempting an apology today. But you CANNOT buy what he tried to sell today at @Heritage unless you take him at his word about being unfamiliar with Fuentes' views. That level of ignorance is as unacceptable as it is unbelievable.

Well, I guess this excuse lived a noble life of almost five hours. RIP.
Friends can and will have disagreements, and sometimes they can be heated. One discussion has pushed Europe to step up their support of our Ukrainian partners who have fought so bravely. The fact is that Putin started the war and he’s a murderer who wants to see the decline of the United States. This war can only end in two ways: either Russia takes all of Ukraine or we broker a peace settlement. President Trump and the United States will continue to push for a lasting peace to end the war, which should include moving forward on the mutually beneficial mineral rights deal that will increase the bond between our two nations.

Thank you @POTUS for standing up for America in a way that no President has ever had the courage to do before. Thank you for putting America First. America is with you!

It's bad that a former president is confessing to crimes on national TV. It's worse that millions of Americans want him to get away with it because they think such an injustice would be entertaining and, above all, "infuriate the libs."
