Building the ideal NFL roster based entirely on their relationship situation:
QB: Married to an above-average looking woman he met before he was famous. Attractive, supportive, but not Madison Beer hot. QB1 cannot have distractions.
RB: Knocked up his college girlfriend sophomore year. Still with her. 3 kids. Rumored mistress that everyone in the organization knows about but nobody discusses. May have one domestic violence charge that got dropped.
WR1: Completely single. Zero responsibilities. Following 4,700 women on Instagram. Let him cook.
WR2: Dating an Instagram model with 800k followers. Relationship is extremely toxic. Somehow this makes him better.
Slot WR: White guy married to a beautiful mid blonde. Golden retriever. Two kids. Lives 12 minutes from the facility. Automatic on 3rd & 7.
TE: Dating a famous actress/singer who gets shown during every broadcast. Annoying but necessary for team morale.
LT/RT: Married to high school sweethearts. Southern women. Three kids minimum. Own homes on 5+ acres. Absolutely zero nightlife.
Guards: Also married. Wives are best friends. Joint family vacations every offseason.
Center: Has been with the same woman since 8th grade. She packs his lunch.
WR3: Single, but not famous enough to pull WR1 numbers. Gets the girls WR1 stopped responding to.
Kicker: Wife is inexplicably a 10. Nobody understands how he did it.
Punter: You have literally no idea if he has ever spoken to a woman.
This team goes 14-3.

Jack Weis Renounces Citizenship, Returns on H-1B — Suddenly Employable
Salt Lake City — After 2,300 job applications as a U.S. citizen with a Princeton Ph.D. in chemical engineering, Jack Weis finally figured it out. He renounced his citizenship, flew home, and re-entered on an H-1B. Recruiters started calling within hours.
“It’s not the degree,” Weis said from his parents’ basement, which he’s subletting to himself at market rate. “It’s the lottery. As a visa holder they see someone who fought for the chance. As a citizen I was just… available. Apparently that’s a red flag.”
His updated resume now lists “International Perspective” and “Cross-Cultural Fluency,” skills acquired during an eleven-hour layover in Doha. His LinkedIn headline reads “Chemical Engineer | Open to Work | H-1B Ready,” and the InMail volume has tripled.
An anonymous hiring manager at a major tech firm confirmed the shift: “When a citizen applies, we ask why they need us. When an H-1B applies, we ask how fast we can sponsor them. Different energy.”
Weis’s father, reached at home, was proud but confused. “He has a doctorate from Princeton. I thought that was the hard part.”
Weis plans to file for PERM next month—a process that takes about fourteen months and exists to prove no American wanted the job. His own 2,300 applications appear to support that claim, though for reasons the Labor Department has not yet examined.
Asked if he’d consider becoming a citizen again, Weis paused. “Maybe after the visa’s approved. Priorities.”
Jack Weis has applied to more than 2,300 jobs since he graduated from Princeton in 2024 with his Ph.D. in chemical engineering. He still doesn’t have a job. on.wsj.com/4sfxSLc

A person who is demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell him nothing, even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof,..he will refuse to believe it...That's the tragedy of the situation of demoralization.”

All governments are the same. Instead of simply admitting that allowing all the migrants into Europe was a STUPID idea, they would rather take the EU to war with Russia than admit that they do not represent the people of Europe because they REFUSE to listen to their complaints.

I don't understand the distinction by many educated people between the burning of buildings and the burning of books.
If architecture like literature is an expression of ideas in symbolic form -- which it is, of course --then both are anti-intellectual acts.

BREAKING: America’s $1.7 trillion auto loan market is headed for a crash, per Reuters.
Auto loans are now one of the biggest sources of household debt, bigger than credit cards.
And the strain is showing: 1 in 5 Americans is behind on at least one loan, the highest since 2010, and the average car on the road is now nearly 13 years old, a record.

This guy's research was cited in a Nobel Prize, and after 2,300 job applications he can't even get a call back from a company that sells frozen crab cakes.
His name is Jack Weis. He got his chemical engineering PhD from Princeton in 2024, and the one paying gig he's landed since then was helping train AI. It lasted less than three months.
Here's how good his research was. Back in 2022, while he was still a grad student, Jack co-authored a paper that used a neural network to simulate water turning into ice, modeling how hundreds of thousands of atoms interact as it freezes. Scientists had basically written that off as too complex to compute. Two years later, when Hopfield and Hinton won the physics Nobel for inventing the building blocks of neural networks, the committee picked his paper as one of a handful of examples of what the technology could now do for science.
So he graduates and starts applying. He goes after research jobs at drug companies and postdocs at national labs, and most of them never write back. He opens the search up to any industry, anywhere in the country, and keeps getting mostly silence. Somewhere in there he applies for a food prep job at the crab cake company, and they ghost him too.
In January he finally gets paid. A startup brings him on at $70 an hour to write chemistry problems and grade AI answers. The hours start around 20 a week and slide down to 4. Then whole weeks go by with no work at all, and in mid-March he finds out he's done through a group chat message.
If you've never looked at how these AI training gigs work, this part will bother you. A lab that wants its model to get better at chemistry pays experts like Jack to write a few thousand hard questions with perfect answers. Once the model has learned from that batch, the lab has what it paid for, so the budget moves on to physics or law or whatever subject is next. You're getting paid well to hand over the one thing that made you hard to replace.
When you zoom out it's kind of brutal. A Nobel committee looked at Jack's work and saw proof that AI could change science, and so far the main thing the AI industry has wanted from him is a couple months of answer keys.
He's 30 now and living with his parents back in Salt Lake City. He's planning to take the LSAT in November, and in the meantime he's building a drone that uses AI to remove invasive weeds.
