Finding the extensive coverage & effort to locate bodies from the sunk luxury yacht jarring compared to the usual coverage of ‘migrant’ deaths in the Channel bbc.co.uk/news/live/c6237gnl…
Particularly interesting are references to “victims” who died on the luxury yacht compared to the “Channel migrant deaths” which are normalised in the media
A Level results day 10 years ago I went into labour - was a painful way to celebrate the end of my miserable high school experience.
Yesterday received an email from my child's nursery about safety measures due to local racist violence. Ironic how outrage for the children in Southport has now made others unsafe across Britain #RacistRiots
So so so hopeful by all the resistance I've seen this week! The student camps, every single person contributing to anti-raids nationwide and all you lovely wonderful people in Peckham today 👏👏

This paper draws attention to #racially #minoritised students’ strategies of navigation and resistance in UK #HigherEducation. In so doing, it challenges deficit discourses whilst also revealing the persistent weight of #InstitutionalWhiteness in HE.

It’s Not Goodbye, It’s See You Later! 📸👋
Ahead of Liz and Janet's last day on Thursday, we met up last night to celebrate our shared achievements.
But more important than reminiscing our highlights was enjoying the unique spirit of this amazing team.
It’s been emotional! 🥹
Devastating that the month @ManchesterCoS netball made @BBCNews for its incredible value, MCoS announces that we cannot continue these sessions (& other social/active sessions) due to a lack of funding.
Very sad to say goodbye to Liz & MCoS as we knew it last night!
🎥 Our netball made the news! 🏐
For #InternationalWomensDay, @BBCNews covered the mental health benefits of our women’s netball sessions. We’re so proud!
In the words of Christina, a regular attendee: “it makes me happy for my mind, to be busy.” 🗣️

Notably - MCoS are not the only local support service struggling with funding. This is concerning when we know that charities 'fill the gap' made by inadequate govt policy (see: @LucyMayblin & James 2019)
MCoS has been so important to so many people - very proud to have been a MCoS volunteer for the last 4 years

The Supreme Court has found the Rwanda policy to be unlawful. Looks like a double blow for Suella this week.
