I wouldn’t limit this to Christians. I do t want horror imagery in my mind either. And I love baseball. Why can’t I have baseball without horror imagery? I watched games with my kids when they were young and didn’t have to worry about this.
More thoughts on parenting in a godless world:
The pushback on my post yesterday is that muting the television and shutting the hutch doors isn’t really parenting. It is almost as if there are adults out there who believe it's necessary for children to view sexually explicit content, mind-numbing gambling ads, and be terrorized by demonic movie trailers for their own psychological development.
Gone are the days of innocence and purity, not just of body, but of mind and heart.
But this is the path a Christian father must be willing to take. Protecting your children from rampant worldliness isn't weakness or cowardice. Do the hard work of opening the Bible and having honest conversations about it, without letting them soak up the debauchery all around them. You're failing as a father if you're feeding your kids the world in the name of "preparing" them to live in it.
I love NFL way more than NBA. BUT….
I’ll take the NBA. Football is awesome on the TV. Different angles and replays. I’ve sat everywhere in a football stadium. There is no perfect seat. You miss some things.
Courtside is the ONLY place for NBA to not suck in the arena.
I own 2 Airbnbs. I don’t put anything in there I don’t want guests to feel free to use. I even tell them in the arrival guide. Spices, condiments, rice, etc….go for it.
“Please use while in my home. Not for take out.” Always been respected. And people leave stuff behind.
I live next door to our Airbnb:
We keep the fridge empty of course, and most of the freezer.
A few weeks ago I bought a large tri-tip, and put it in there. My home freezer was too full.
On a whim, opened the Airbnb freezer today, (sometimes people leave their vodka in there after a visit, and we have new guests coming today ), and my tri-tip is gone.
So we’re stealing MEAT now?
On a mini-vacation.
That’s wild.
It’s actually a condemnation of what goes on in the classroom.

We live in a culture where a wife publicly trashing her husband is “relatable,” but Taylor Swift enthusiastically cheering for hers is somehow cringe.
That’s completely backwards.
The constant “my husband is an incompetent idiot” shtick isn’t funny, it’s corrosive.
Normalize actually liking your husband.
Cheer for him. Brag about him. Be embarrassingly proud of him.
Marriage could use a lot more of that.

"I am not blaming teachers. I am, however, blaming a system that puts the least competent in front of students who are in desperate need of being instructed by the very best. This problem is getting worse annually as more brand new teachers are hired to comply with the class size law."
