I also thanked the Saudi authorities for continuing to ensure the safety of our compatriots in the country. We want to promote a diplomatic solution to the yemeni crisis by supporting the efforts of the United Nations: we are continuing our work to ensure security in the Gulf and freedom of navigation in the Strait of #Hormuz and the Red Sea to safeguard commercial traffic. For this reason, strengthening the EU’s Aspides mission is crucial for security in the region and for the protection of shipping lanes”.

Condanno con fermezza gli attacchi degli Houthi che hanno colpito l’aeroporto di Riad. Sono vicina all’Arabia Saudita e alle famiglie delle vittime e auguro ai feriti pronta guarigione. Gli attacchi contro i civili e le infrastrutture civili sono inaccettabili e devono cessare. L’Italia continuerà a lavorare con i partner della Regione per ridurre le tensioni e promuovere la stabilità e la libertà di navigazione nell’area.
