Remembering October 7 Through the Voices of Survivors 🇮🇱 During their visit to Ethiopia for the October 7 commemoration, survivors Keith Siegel and Mazal Tezazo shared their personal experiences with Ethiopian communities, creating meaningful opportunities for dialogue, reflection, and understanding. Mazal met with 30 Ethiopian young leaders and influencers to recount her experience surviving the Nova music festival massacre. Keith met with Ethiopian religious leaders and shared his experience of the October 7 attacks and the 484 days he spent in Hamas captivity in Gaza. Through these discussions, both survivors offered firsthand accounts of the tragedy and its lasting human impact. Their stories brought together young leaders, influencers, and religious voices in a shared moment of listening, empathy, and reflection. The Embassy of Israel in Ethiopia values these meaningful exchanges and the opportunity to foster greater understanding through personal stories and dialogue.

Embassy of the State of Israel to Ethiopia and the African Union Commemorates Three Years Since the October 7 Massacre On October 16, 2026, the Embassy of the State of Israel to Ethiopia and the African Union held a commemoration at the Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa, marking three years since the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel. The event brought together a representative of Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic community, religious leaders, the Jewish community in Ethiopia, media organizations, civil society representatives, and friends of Israel. A central part of the commemoration was the testimony of two Israeli survivors, Keith Siegel and Mazal Tezazo. Keith, who endured 484 days in Hamas captivity in Gaza, shared his experience as a hostage, while Mazal recounted her survival of the Nova music festival massacre.
