Of nearly 200 countries worldwide, Israel ranks among the 20 longest-standing continuous electoral democracies. 🇮🇱 After regaining independence in 1948, Israel has maintained its parliamentary democracy for 78 years. A young country with a long democratic tradition.

Great to join the Michigan Israel Business Accelerator (MIBA) in Detroit last week for the launch of the U.S.-Israel Innovation Exchange (USIIE)! While states and regions naturally compete for investment and business opportunities, they also recognize that working together makes everyone stronger. This new national network will connect organizations across the U.S., share resources and expertise, and create more opportunities for Israeli innovation and American businesses. Especially now, strengthening our economic ties and demonstrating the value of U.S.-Israel cooperation matters more than ever. Proud that @IsraelinChicago has been a partner in this initiative from the very beginning. Thank you to MIBA, Mark Davidoff, Howard Handler, Gary Torgow, Huntington Bank, and all the partners who made this possible. This is just the beginning! 🇮🇱🇺🇸

Last night, @orenbenyosef and I were proud to host the OneFamily delegation ahead of today’s Chicago Marathon, joined by friends from our Jewish and Israeli community. OneFamily supports victims of terror and war in Israel and their families. During the evening, the runners told us about the people they have lost and what this run means to them. Today, they will run the marathon carrying Israeli flags and photos of their loved ones killed in war or murdered in terror attacks, honoring their memory and ensuring they are seen and remembered. We also welcomed British Jewish runner Yoel Levy, who will run as Batman in memory of Ariel and Kfir Bibas and their mother, Shiri, murdered by Hamas in captivity. Inspired by Ariel’s love of Batman, Yoel runs to keep their story alive. It was a deeply moving evening. Thank you to OneFamily and our Chicago community for standing beside these families. Wishing all the runners a safe and successful marathon. We’ll be there cheering them on and honoring those they run for. 🇮🇱💙🧡

Two truths in one heart: remembering the tears, lifting the scroll. That was the reality of living through Simchat Torah in Israel yesterday. 🇮🇱 Three years after the October 7, 2023 massacre, our hearts remain anchored in profound grief, remembering the souls lost and the unimaginable pain of that day. Yet the Hebrew calendar calls us, on that very same day, to celebrate the Torah, to sing and to dance. It may seem like an impossible contradiction. But perhaps this is the very essence of Israeli resilience: bearing the scars of the past while refusing to surrender the future, rebuilding what was shattered and carrying the timeless heritage of our ancestors forward. Heartbreak and hope. Mourning and renewal. Memory and faith. Am Yisrael Chai! 🇮🇱🕎

Disgraceful incident❗️ Absolutely shameful: during the press conference, an Irish FA official tried to snatch the microphone away from Moti Pashchatzky, an Israeli journalist, after he asked the Ireland coach about his players allegedly swearing at the Israeli players.

Nearly three years later, their faces shine over @TimesSquareNYC. They were children, parents, siblings, friends, and loved ones. Each had a life, a story, and a future stolen by Hamas terrorists on a single day. 1,200 murdered. 251 kidnapped. Next week marks three years since October 7, but remembrance is not limited to an anniversary. We carry their faces, their names, and their stories with us every day. Consul General of Israel in New York, Ambassador @Ofir_Akunis added: “We are here to remind the world of the horrific and barbaric massacre carried out by Hamas on October 7. We will not forget, and we will not forgive.” #unforgo7.ten – at Manhattan, NY

It started with the Jews. Remember Babi Yar, 85 years ago. In September 1941 the Germans occupied Kiev. The Jews were ordered to assemble “for resettlement.” Marched under guard to Babi Yar, on the outskirts of Kiev, they were forced to hand over all their belongings and then led to a deep ravine and shot. Women, children, the elderly and the young. Everyone. Just for being Jewish. The massacre was carried out by SS Einsatzkommando 4a, together with German and Ukrainian police units. The bodies of the victims were piled in the ravine. In just two days, September 29–30, at Babi Yar, 33,771 Jews were murdered - one of the largest mass shootings during the Holocaust. The number of Jewish victims at Babi Yar eventually exceeded 50,000. Only 29 Jews known to have survived, a ratio of 1:1660. One survival for every 1,660 murdered. As always, the hate that began with Jews did not end with Jews. In total, more than 100,000 people were murdered at Babi Yar, including Soviet prisoners of war, Roma and Sinti, psychiatric patients, and other innocent civilians. Those who managed to escape were mostly betrayed by local residents. After the physical annihilation came the attempt to erase the memory. Under “Sonderaktion 1005” the Nazis sought to conceal and destroy evidence of their atrocities. That was not the end. Efforts to suppress the memory of the Holocaust continued for decades under Soviet rule, as part of the Soviet Union’s antisemitic anti-Zionist political campaign. So the first memorial erected at Babi Yar in 1974 did not mention the Jews. Only after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 was the Menorah Monument erected, at the edge of the Babi Yar killing pit, in memory of the Jewish victims. Today we promise: Never again. A 2,000-year-old Jewish ritual bath weighing about 25 tons was lifted intact from the ground in the southern city of Kiryat Gat this summer, the Israel Antiquities Authority said on Thursday. The Second Temple-period mikveh was uncovered during salvage excavations before construction in the city’s Carmei Gat neighborhood. The discovery provides evidence of a previously unknown Jewish settlement between the Judean Lowlands and the northern Negev, the IAA said. Read more on The Times of Israel.

Everyone is home. 🎗️ Those who returned to the warm embrace of their families, and those who were brought home to eternal rest. Through unimaginable pain, the strength and unity of the Israeli people carried us forward, as we never stopped fighting for every single hostage. May the coming year bring healing, renewal, sweeter days, security and peace to Israel, the Jewish people, and the world. 🍎🍯🇮🇱 Shana Tova.

The British Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband posts a video recounting “stories” he was told about Gaza. If the Foreign Secretary were interested in facts rather than stories, he would know that there are no restrictions whatsoever on the entry of medicines into the Gaza Strip, and that no medicines are being blocked; that 22,500 tons of medical supplies have entered Gaza since the ceasefire began; and that Gazans exit the Strip for medical treatment, including 200 who did so in just the last two weeks. And of course, the British Foreign Secretary is well aware of all this, as the UK is a member of the International Gaza Support Center, which facilitates the delivery of medical aid to the Gaza Strip. But apparently, facts matter less (when making a video for a political audience).

UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband: I just came out of this meeting talking about Gaza to people who've been there and are there on the ground. And frankly, it was horrific what is unfolding. You know, the stories that people were telling me of medicines being blocked, children dying while waiting for vital life-saving treatment. When you hear that account of what is happening, you know that we as a UK government, as the Prime Minister has said, have got to act and act more decisively than we have.
