And @Discovery_SA is partnering with Israeli Ministry of health for the Future of Healthcare conference in Cape Town!
"It's the equivalent of just putting a blockade around London, saying you can't leave, & then dropping bombs month after month, & then closing down all the healthcare facilities, that's what's happening" Professor Nizam Mamode giving evidence to MPs yesterday about Gaza

Analyses of Continuous Glucose Monitor data from 8000+ "healthy adults" offers many insights. ~40% who had a morning fasting glucose in "normal range" turned out to be prediabetic and 3% were diabetic. Wearing a CGM once a year is worth it. nature.com/articles/s41591-0…

Today, after the ICJ ruling, I find myself a little bit less disgusted with modern institutions and more hopeful for a trend towards greater justice, fairness, & morals in the face of lobbies, pressure groups, and propaganda outfits. A warm thank you, South Africa.

Namibia rejects Germany’s Support of the Genocidal Intent of the Racist Israeli State against Innocent Civilians in Gaza On Namibian soil, #Germany committed the first genocide of the 20th century in 1904-1908, in which tens of thousands of innocent Namibians died in the most inhumane and brutal conditions. The German Government is yet to fully atone for the genocide it committed on Namibian soil. Therefore, in light of Germany’s inability to draw lessons from its horrific history, President @hagegeingob expresses deep concern with the shocking decision communicated by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany yesterday, 12 January 2024, in which it rejected the morally upright indictment brought forward by South Africa before the #InternationalCourtofJustice that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in #Gaza. Worryingly, ignoring the violent deaths of over 23 000 Palestinians in Gaza and various United Nations reports disturbingly highlighting the internal displacement of 85% of civilians in Gaza amid acute shortages of food and essential services, the German Government has chosen to defend in the International Court of Justice the genocidal and gruesome acts of the Israeli Government against innocent civilians in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Germany cannot morally express commitment to the United Nations Convention against genocide, including atonement for the genocide in Namibia, whilst supporting the equivalent of a holocaust and genocide in Gaza. Various international organizations, such as Human Rights Watch have chillingly concluded that Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza. President Geingob reiterates his call made on 31 December 2023, “No peace-loving human being can ignore the carnage waged against Palestinians in Gaza”. In that vein, President Geingob appeals to the German Government to reconsider its untimely decision to intervene as a third-party in defence and support of the genocidal acts of Israel before the International Court of Justice.

👉Coronary Atherosclerosis Causes, Consequences, and the Passage of Time A must read editorial by Peter Toth and Allan Sniderman ☝️Trapping of apoB particles within the arterial wall is the root cause of atherosclerosis and the level of the apoB lipoproteins within plasma is the primary, but not exclusive, determinant of the number of apoB particles that will be trapped over time. Calcification is a histologic hallmark of advanced atherosclerotic disease. Thus, apoB causes atherosclerosis and CAC is a consequence of atherosclerosis sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

It is open to debate whether Israel's massacre of ten of thousand innocent Gaza civilians constitutes genocide, at least yet. But as these clips from Netanyahu's civil and military leadership show, there can be little doubt of genocidal intent. Here, collected on this link, are clear and unembarrased calls for slaughter, erasure, nuclear holocaust and the levelling of Gaza, all on record, all on camera, from their own mouths. Its utterly, and completely, horrifying.
Good summary of main statements from Israeli officials on Gaza

My 9 and 12 year old listen. They started it to provide context before a trip to India and this week used it to learn more of the origins of Palestinian occupation more eloquently and factually than I could have explained. Great learning tool.

Major step forward in AAA research. 1) massive increase in our understanding of the genetic architecture of disease; 2) identification of potential therapeutic pathway; 3) inkling of clinical utility for polygenic risk scores for disease prediction.
