Is Ed Sheeran that withdrawn from reality? The way he has piggybacked off of minorities has always got to me. He was never a real one - though many tried to force it!

This is what happens when a talented Black woman has another talented Black woman guiding their artist development.
We need more Black women in senior A&R positions.

I find it baffling people cannot see that many non-Black artists adopt aspects of styling and aesthetic popularised by Black inner-city dwellers to give them an aesthetic “edge” they distinctly lack without it 😭
This is especially true if they want to look “cool”

If you are not listening to Rave Evolution - The Music Is Black on @BBC6Music you should be. They are playing all the tunes.
Interview with Carroll Thompson earlier was lovely.
Today is 80s all day. Next week is 90s when I’ll be talking #Jungle with Nick Grimshaw.
This is going to be cool.
Starts tomorrow👌🏾

A major lesson from the Arday situation: document everything and always be ready to defend your CV. Across LSE, Duisburg-Essen, Warwick, UC Berkeley, Oxford, SOAS, and now Liverpool, I’ve kept every certificate, transcript, photo, contract, student evaluation, and referee contact. When you're a minority in elite spaces, you have to keep receipts so people can't wake up tomorrow and call you a DEI diversity hire 😅 – at Liverpool, England
The extraordinary case of Professor Jason Arday
As high-profile Cambridge professor Jason Arday resigns after a string of allegations about plagiarism, @kirancmoodley explores what this complex story really reveals about academia.

R.U.(RAW & UNFILTERED)Vol. 1 (E.P) REVIEW.
Ruger is the fourth most complete male artist we have in the Afrobeats scene. No leaks, new gen big 7 if Mount Rushmore had more heads.
The project was adventurous but controlled.
This is an 8.1 🏆
Lyrically it’s flexible and funny
Voice textures were experimental on some parts
Production should have its separate award.🥇 smooth flow.
Many foreign influences too.
He treated the E.P like an album and maintained a raunchy theme.
She Don’t Like Men - it’s an interesting record because he’s really talking about Lesbians stealing your girl. It’s a great way to start a project titled Raw & Unfiltered. Women taking women from men is a topic hardly being touched in the afrobeats scene.
Now it’s not just other men you have to protect your girl from. Girls steal girls.
The production is minimal and gives space to enjoy his lyrics. “She no care for the size of your Oko”
All Die - the lead guitar intro, the piano keys and then the transition to a Tekno esk afrobeats instrumental was a very fun direction. He’s leaning into his lover boy and flirt bag, there was this thing he did with the “if i kpai, i kpai” with a bass voice was an enjoyable bit.
Private Chef with Mc Morena- Brazilian funk was very clean, Ruger doesn’t play with his intro’s after a lovers tease he’s now in his play energy, “i no like Rebecca anymore” he explains a toxic relationship and who’s Onome though? Mac Morena talking about ‘ajebutter’
Do Nothing - The Synths on this is crazy, it’s elevating, definitely a hustlers anthem. Musa Keys and young Stubbs didn’t speak English but I felt that energy. If you’re going for a run or driving some where in a hurry you’d be engulfed in the euphoria of this song and you will be faster.
Loved at Home - OMG this has to be the best song on here, that intro alone is worth gold. “What are you called at home baby, the name your mummy and daddy gave you not your IG handle”
It’s a more open air song his vocal texture, the general feeling is a dance feel.
Jesus Loves Me - it’s a confession and a reminder that he loves Jesus. Thankful song and I think the Christian kids will love this. Reminds me of the video of when he was playing drums in his cele church before fame.

One thing about Ruger? Give him a beat and leave him alone. 😭
The man will handle the rest.
