Sooo now you've made some money? You're a victim waiting to happen. Here is how not to be. This is offbeat but a friend of mine, wealthy, had an attempted home invasion a couple months ago. So I wanted to share some things maybe you need to think about. Making money means more risk... especially in crypto and other uncommon assets. I've been fairly security conscious, so here is my advice. 1. Anonymity. Don't share your information online (hence my profile). This is how people get swatted by nutjobs, stalked and attacked. 2. Home security. You want an alarm that has an armed response, not some bullshit call (is everyone ok?) where a guy with a gun can make you say anything. 3. 3M security tint, 10mils. This shit is amazing, it would take a chainsaw, a blowtorch and a few hours to get through. Its invisible and looks like the window is just plain old glass. Its better than anything visible because not only don't you see it, neither does the thug, meaning they try there first, giving you time to react. 4. Guns. Be comfortable, same with your significant other, older children. Be ready with them. I wont tell you the specific loadout, its different for every situation. But be mindful of over penetration (into the neighbors house) and stopping power. I have a semi auto shotgun amongst other things. 5. Solid core interior doors. Not only a huge sound upgrade, but it makes every room a safe room. If you have the money, putting solid core doors throughout the house with reinforced door jambs means 99% of attackers cant kick it down. Plus your house gets much quieter. 6. Cameras. I have visible cameras outside the house, and some inside that are hidden (when we aren't home). Visible are deterrents, invisible catch the idiots themselves. 7. Dogs. Big dogs are probably as good as everything on this list combined. We have a Rottie and a Mastiff. Both sweet, both intimidating and loud. You don't need assassins, you want pets first. But big is better. 8. Neighbors. I know my neighbors, they know me. We exchange gifts, bbq together... and housesit for each other when we are out of town. They know if something weird is going on, and so do I. This is the best combo for me. It doesn't turn our house into a prepper bunker, but also makes it very difficult for someone to actively do "something" to us. Hope someone that needs this, sees this. Don't be a victim, be proactive
