More Government buybacks will add to costs and water scarcity, leaving these and other vulnerable communities in an even more precarious position #ausgov @tanya_plibersek

Here's the paper - well worth a read and highlights just how savage an 'ecosystem engineer' carp are. Our rivers are being destroyed as billions of dollars get pumped in a one trick pony of a policy of simply buying water back. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
'Carp are responsible for increasing the turbidity of the Murray Darling Basin’s waterways by an average 63 per cent, wiping out 36 per cent of water plants and almost a third of yabbies, freshwater crayfish, shrimp and even water bugs.' weeklytimesnow.com.au/news/w…

The @AlboMP Gov's actions don't match its words. It says it’s taking action on the cost of living crisis while actively implementing a policy that will make food more expensive by starting water buybacks from farmers as early as April. How does that make sense?
The Federal Government won’t reveal the $ per ML or how much water it bought in its recent multimillion-dollar Murray-Darling Basin buybacks tender yet it is demanding supermarkets deliver greater food and grocery price transparency. Double standards. weeklytimesnow.com.au/news/w…

"Family run organisations are important for the community because we genuinely care about the produce." More water buybacks will make it hard for family farms to survive and will hurt regional communities. We need to move #BeyondBuybacks and #KeepFarmersFarming @MandoleOrchard

Right now, big decisions are being made in Canberra that would see farms - even entire farming industries - closed down for good. We need your help to #KeepFarmersFarming. Visit keepfarmersfarming.org.au to show your support. 💚🙏

The @AlboMP Government’s water buybacks in the Murray-Darling Basin mean farmers grow less food. Less food means higher prices. Is that what we really need during a cost of living crisis? @tanya_plibersek #auspol
