On Tuesday Ambassador Mc Breen joined with representatives of the international community, the Jewish communities of Ukraine and President Zelenskyy to remember all those who were killed at Babyn Yar, especially the 33,771 Jewish Ukrainians murdered at this site 85 years ago.

Russia’s slaughter of innocent civilians in Kramatorsk and Priluki is totally reprehensible. Attacks on civilians are war crimes; those who ordered and committed these attacks must be held to account. Our thoughts are with those lost, their loved ones, and the people of Ukraine.

This morning, russians struck two passenger buses in Kramatorsk.
Local authorities now report 30 people killed and 18 injured!
People simply travelling through their city are now dead.
Ukraine is in mourning.
A day of mourning has been declared today for those killed in Pryluky in yesterday’s russian attack. On Putin’s birthday.
22 people killed. Five of them children. 54 people injured.
All night, rescue crews cleared the rubble of their homes. All night, they searched for people. They kept finding bodies.
Last night in Kyiv, a russian drone hit a block of flats. Two people were killed as they slept. Four more were hurt.
This war never pauses. Not for grief. Not while families wait for news. Not while the dead are still being recovered from underneath the rubble.
My heart is with the families and loved ones in Kramatorsk, Pryluky and Kyiv.

The EU has extended its sanctions in response to Russia's hybrid threats until 9 October 2027.
The sanctions target those responsible for Russia's continued and intensified hybrid activities against the EU, its member states and its partners.

Together with other Heads of Mission in Kyiv, we take note with concern of the Russian MFA's threat against diplomats and foreign citizens in Ukraine.
Russia is bound by the Vienna Convention and international humanitarian law.
