Around 200 parents will spend the night outside Leinster House in protest over the shortage of appropriate school places for autistic children. A new As I Am report finds most parents feel their children don’t get the same chance as non-autistic students. More on #VMNews.

If the Head of the HSE is going to post about child disability services parents should be allowed reply. Why does @BernardGloster not allow replies is he afraid parents might challenge him? @CarrollJennifer @davidcullinane @DuncanSmithTD @LiamQuaide @TomClonan
I was encouraged today leading Day 1 of 3 direct engagements with me on making immediate improvements to children’s disability services. 200+ professionals from all over Ireland @HSELive & funded partners debating tough questions about ourselves as service providers. Same tomorrow with another group and then day 3 with parents. We need all children’s services in HSE working together Disability Primary Care CAMHS. @dcediy @NormaFoleyTD1 @1Hildegarde @CarrollJennifer @MaryButlerTD Massive challenges for children and families but we can do better. This process is part of our commitment in Programme for Government

Hello Mr @BernardGloster. Why wasn't our Disabled Persons' Representative Organisation (DPRO) for physically impaired people of every age NOT invited by you and your team to these 'direct engagements'? Physical Impairment Ireland (PII) is not a DPRO for 'children of a lesser God'

Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) is supposedly one of Ireland's leading service providers and representative organisations for people with physical disabilities. IWA does NOT represent our Disabled Persons' Representative Organisation for physically impaired people & never has!

This is how @MichealMartinTD treats parent carers 👇 We ask simple questions about his Disability Unit and we are met with ❌️ No When we appeal that refusal we are ignored So on we go to @OICIreland He had plenty to say about Unit to @OCO_ireland - why not to us parents?

But the true Disabled Persons Representative Organisation (DPRO) for people with physical impairments Physical Impairment Ireland (PII) @IrelandPhysical is highlighting this issue on a weekly basis unlike yourselves and they don't get one cent funding from the state. A true voice

Another child was removed from the Scoliosis list without being informed.😡
independent.ie/regionals/ker…… “We have very little contact from Crumlin. I rang looking for information and asked where is Daniel on the list. We were told that he isn’t on the list. The way she put it was that he was listed for surgery, but he is not on the list for surgery,” Louise said. National Treatment Purchase Fund must audit these cases - we have consistently raised concerns about wait list management in @CHI_Ireland with CEO NTPF. @CarrollJennifer @SBH_PAG

There is huge discrimination in Ireland against people with disabilities, intellectual & physical, in healthcare, education, employment, housing, advocacy, in every way possible. Access, transport, toileting, parking spaces, disability allowance & indirectly carer’s allowance.

How much longer will it take for @CarrollJennifer to issue a statement on the NHS Consultant’s Report? More importantly how long will it take for the parents of the children in the “80% cohort of unnecessary operations” to be contacted? This is utterly shocking @CHI_Ireland @HSELive @MaryLouMcDonald @PearseDoherty @davidcullinane

This is every parent’s nightmare. The prospect that hip operations were unnecessarily carried out on very young children is shocking. Hundreds of parents this morning are sick with worry that their child was put through the trauma of surgery that wasn’t needed. These parents deserve answers and the full truth. We will stand with them until they get it.
Hundreds of families have been left distraught, fearing their child has been wrongfully operated on. How much longer will parents be left without answers? We will not stop until this government takes this issue seriously.
