At today’s UNGA meeting on the veto, Iran stressed that the Security Council must uphold the UN Charter and international law—not serve the narrow interests of those who violate them. The U.S. draft of 17 September was another legally baseless attempt to manipulate the Council and revive an illegitimate mechanism terminated under resolution 2231. China and Russia rightly vetoed this abuse. The U.S. and its Western allies have no credibility to lecture Iran on non-proliferation or international law while violating both, shielding the Israeli regime from accountability, and remaining silent on its nuclear arsenal. Their claimed concern for non-proliferation rings hollow when they remain silent on unlawful U.S.-Israeli regime attacks on Iran’s peaceful, safeguarded nuclear facilities.

The Iranian delegation left New York on Monday evening, in accordance with the schedule that had also been communicated to the U.S. Department of State in advance on September 17. Having achieved nothing, the State Department has resorted to propagating baseless and worthless news.

Washington still seems to assume that nations have neither memory nor the capacity for critical thought. It treats the world as if it were *Pluribus*: a hive in which minds are expected to switch off, eyes lock onto Washington’s lips, and its narrative is swallowed whole. On one side stands a brutal economic war, deliberately designed to inflict maximum pain and suffering on every Iranian citizen. On the other stands the theatrical announcement of measures to stop Iranian officials from supposedly shopping at an American wholesale club. They look past the sanctioning of an entire nation’s livelihood, then issue solemn statements about the sanctioning of a store membership card. The propaganda is so crude and threadbare that it exposes the naivety of the mindset that launched an unlawful war of choice against the Nation of Iran, and helped deliver the United States to the embarrassing position it occupies today.

At today’s UN Security Council meeting, the U.S. politically motivated draft resolution seeking to revive the mandate of the Panel of Experts of the illegitimate 1737 Committee failed to pass. Russia and China once again stood firmly in defence of the UN Charter, international law, and the integrity of the Council and prevented yet another cynical attempt by the United States and its allies to abuse the Security Council for their political purposes. Iran deeply appreciates Russia and China for their consistent and principled positions and decisive actions today. We also commend Somalia and Pakistan for their valuable positions and abstentions. Iran reiterates its principled, longstanding, and consistent position that UNSCR 2231 expired definitely on 18 October 2025. As of that date, all nuclear-related provisions, measures, restrictions, and mechanisms were permanently terminated; the Security Council had concluded its consideration of the Iranian nuclear issue, and the agenda item “Non-proliferation” had been removed.

Today’s Security Council meeting was yet another misuse of Council procedures and authority to advance the political agendas of certain member states. Iran’s position is clear: the E3’s so-called “snapback” was never validly triggered because of their significant non-compliance with the JCPOA and UNSCR 2231(2015). Resolution 2231 expired on 18 October 2025. As of that date, all nuclear-related provisions, measures, and restrictions had been permanently terminated. Accordingly, there is no legal basis for its purported work of the 1737 Committee. The Council’s procedures and meetings must serve international peace and security and must not be exploited to advance politically motivated allegations or provide cover for unlawful acts.

The repeated U.S. attacks and threats against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities not only constitute a flagrant violation of the core principles of the UN Charter, international law, and the relevant resolutions of the IAEA Board of Governors, General Conference, and UN Security Council, but also reveal the United States’ deep-rooted enmity toward Iran’s scientific progress and technological development. Iran’s nuclear activities have been fully declared to the IAEA in accordance with its safeguards obligations. Washington’s obsessive focus on Kolang Kouh where no nuclear activity is taking place is nothing more than a fabricated pretext for aggression, destruction, and sabotage. By the way, where is the Director General of the IAEA, who is also a candidate for UN Secretary-General? The Iranian people stand resolute and united, ready to confront with full strength any act of U.S. hostility or violation of their country’s sovereignty and national security.

Ansarallah represents a significant segment of the Yemeni people, and Iran recognises the Sana'a authorities as their legitimate representatives. Iran's engagement with the Sana'a authorities is consistent with relevant UNSC resolutions and aimed at supporting a Yemeni-led process towards a unified Yemen while preserving the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity. The UN has repeatedly benefited from this engagement in advancing the Yemeni peace process. The U.S. allegation at today's Security Council meeting that Iran exploited the travel of the Yemeni delegation attending the funeral of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran to transfer military equipment is entirely baseless. It is a fabricated accusation intended to mislead the Security Council and divert attention from the atrocious crimes the United States is committing against the Iranian people.

In commemoration of the International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Mongolia and Senegal hosted a high-level event at the United Nations, with the active participation of Member States and leading UN entities. Sand and dust storms are not merely local or regional environmental issues, but a global challenge with severe impacts on human health, food security, ecosystems, economies, transportation, climate resilience, and sustainable development. We call for stronger international cooperation, greater UN attention, and concrete action within the UN Decade on Combating Sand and Dust Storms (2025–2034).

The most robust Nation-State bond was placed before the eyes of the world during the funeral procession of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution. The event carries two definitive lessons: 1. The masterminds and perpetrators of this crime must understand that they have sown in the heart of the Iranian nation the seeds of hatred and vengeance, which will one day clutch them by the collar. 2. Policymakers and policy architects must grasp this reality of Iranian society and bring an end to their miscalculations in analysing the power equation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

July 3, 1988: The U.S. Navy shot down Iran Air Flight 655 over the Persian Gulf, killing all 290 civilians on board—including 66 children. Instead of accountability, the then-U.S. President decorated the crew responsible. This is exactly why the culture of impunity continues today: from the skies over Flight 655 to the Tomahawk missiles that struck the school in Minab, killing 168 schoolchildren. The United States still refuses to answer for its crimes.

Yet another display of hypocrisy and double standards at the UN Security Council meeting and stakeout. A certain number of members, at the behest of the United States, repeated baseless allegations against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, parroting the U.S. and Israeli regime’s disinformation campaign. UNSCR 2231 expired on 18 October 2025, bringing all related provisions and mandates to an end. There is no legal basis for the so-called 1737 Committee, no Security Council sanctions resolutions on Iran remain in force, and no justification whatsoever for convening meetings under the “Non-Proliferation” agenda. This constitutes a blatant abuse of Security Council authority and a deliberate attempt to mislead the international community. For more than five decades, Iran has remained a responsible NPT State Party and has never sought nuclear weapons. The real threat to the non-proliferation regime is the impunity enjoyed by those who attack safeguarded peaceful nuclear facilities while claiming to uphold international law and non-proliferation. The current situation is the direct consequence of the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA, the E3’s persistent failure to comply with their commitments, and the unlawful military attacks by the U.S. and Israel against Iran’s safeguarded peaceful nuclear facilities.

On World Environment Day, more than ever, our environment requires sustained protection for the benefit of present and future generations. Armed conflicts remain among the most destructive drivers of environmental degradation. The two large-scale acts of aggression against Iran within less than a year have caused significant environmental damage, with consequences that may endure for decades. Protecting the environment is not only a legal obligation but also a moral responsibility we owe to present and future generations. #WorldEnvironmentDay #Environment #Sustainability

The U.S.—the only country in history to have used nuclear weapons and itself responsible for attacks against peaceful nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards, targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure, continues to violate international law through unlawful maritime blockades, and unwavering support for the Israeli regime’s crimes and atrocities across the region, once again abused the UN Security Council’s platform by spreading lies, false accusations, and disinformation against Iran and its peaceful nuclear programme and cynically invoking international peace and security or freedom of navigation. In fact, the culprit and the thief are now playing the role of prosecutor and judge, trying to whitewash his own crimes.

It is now crystal clear that the U.S. is seeking to exploit the number of the so-called co-sponsors of its politically motivated and one-sided draft resolution to manufacture a false image of “broad international support” for its ongoing unlawful actions and to pave the way for further military adventurism in the region. Should the U.S. trigger any new escalation, all co-sponsoring States will share international responsibility alongside Washington for the consequences. No political excuse or diplomatic cover can absolve them of responsibility for facilitating, enabling, and legitimizing U.S. aggression.

The U.S. attempt to portray the number of co-sponsors of its politically motivated draft resolution as broad international support and proof of Iran’s isolation is both absurd and deceptive. No number of coerced co-sponsorships can legitimise Washington’s ongoing internationally wrongful acts against Iran, including maritime blockade, attacks on and illegal seizure of Iranian commercial vessels, and hostage-taking of their crews in a manner resembling piracy. Everyone knows that many members joined the draft resolution under political pressure, coercion, and even threats. The U.S. representative’s claims of broad backing are nothing more than a desperate effort to manufacture legitimacy for predetermined political objectives, undermine the credibility of the UN Security Council, and provide political cover for unlawful actions.

The only viable solution in the Strait of Hormuz is clear: a permanent end to the war, the lifting of the maritime blockade, and the restoration of normal passage. Instead, the U.S. is pushing a flawed, politically motivated UN Security Council draft resolution under the pretext of “freedom of navigation” to advance its political agenda and legitimise unlawful actions—not to resolve the crisis. Iran calls on Member States to act on the basis of logic, fairness and principle, not pressure, reject the draft, and refrain from supporting or co-sponsoring it.
