A cleric in northern Iran was killed at his home in Sari, the IRGC-linked Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday.
Tasnim identified him as Yasser Taheri, a member of the clerical association in Mazandaran province and prayer leader at the Hassan Askari mosque in Sari’s Rahband neighborhood.
Initial reports indicated he was killed with a bladed weapon, Tasnim said. The motive was not immediately known.
Ali Abbasi, head of the Mazandaran forensic medicine department, said investigators were examining the scene and that further details on the cause and circumstances of death would be released after the body was examined.

I would like to speak to an Islamic Republic supporter from Iran, genuinely.
What exactly makes you support this regime after all that you’ve seen and the hardships you’ve faced in your day-to-day life.
What makes it “worth it”.
You do know, even if you win against Trump, you will still spend the rest of your life living under a sanctioned, incompetent, corrupt, vicious regime whose very hands are soaking with the blood of your own countrymen and women.
Hypothetically, if you could replace the current Islamic Republic with a hyper-nationalist technocratic state like China, would you?
After the revolution, is it possible to deport all 20 million Muslims that exist in Iran? To Pakistan? (around 20% are Muslim in Iran).
And replace them with the Iranian-German diaspora who are secular and sophisticated.
Pakistan has 260,000,000 people, surely they wouldn’t mind increasing it to 280,000,000?
They would fit right in.
