Now out at JNeuro: "Lingering neural representations of past task features adversely affect future behavior" by @BenORangel . I urge you to read the 🧵 about the study, but the TLDR is Ben is the man. jneurosci.org/content/early/…

Super exciting new work from the inimitable @BenORangel: Measuring the non-selective effects of motor inhibition using isometric force recordings. Ben developed a brand new method to show how the brain broadly suppresses the motor system during stopping biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… 🧵

New preprint time: In collaboration with @dora_matzke, Dan Tranel & @MarkBowrenJr, and led by Yoojeong Choo, we studied stop-signal trigger failures and EEG beta bursts in rIFC lesion patients to investigate its specific role in inhibitory control. See 🧵

If you're at #cns2022 @CNSmtg, please go see our posters! We have: a new signature of global motor suppression during action-stopping, two types of inhibition after action errors, and interruptions of auditory attentional by surprising haptic stimuli by inhibitory circuits. 🧵

Darcy and I wrote a theoretical paper in which we explain how we believe action stopping works in the human brain, based on recent findings from us and others. Check the preprint out below! We're still thinking through some of the aspects, so all comments are welcome!
Why are attentional orienting and motor inhibition so tightly linked in the stop-signal task? And why do EMG and MEP reductions during stopping happen earlier than the P3 ERP? If you’ve ever found yourself asking these questions, this thread is for you. (1/9)
