Science magazine’s account is riddled with inaccurate and misleading reporting. Start with the verdict. The jury awarded David $500,000 for defamation, $3.2M for interference with contractual relationships in a category explicitly naming MIT et al., and $2.3M for interference with prospective professional relationships. It rejected Knouse’s claims of sexual harassment, hostile workplace and educational environments, and retaliation. These are findings in a court of law, not competing opinions to balance against the losing side’s disappointment. Of the $6M awarded, $5.5M concerned interference with David’s professional relationships. Science obscures the connection to MIT et al. and the administrators whose actions inflicted those losses. Causation was central to what David had to prove. In “but for” legalistic terminology, the losses would not have occurred without the conduct at issue. If David would have suffered the same losses anyway because of a culture survey, an investigation, or anything else independent of Knouse’s conduct, those losses could not be attributed to her interference or her words. Science never examines that implication. MIT et al.’s actions on based Knouse's behavior were how allegations became lost employment, a lost laboratory, and a lost career. Yet Science tells readers the verdict “has no direct impact on the conclusions of Whitehead’s probe.” That framing ignores the causal connection established by the interference and defamation findings and treats the institutional investigation as insulated from the verdict. Science also returns to allegations of a sexualized or “toxic” environment as something David merely denies. Knouse sued him over those allegations. The verdict form explicitly asks whether she proved a sexually hostile workplace or educational environment. The jury answered no to both. Recycling those allegations while giving the losing attorney space to attack the jury’s competence protects the institutional narrative from scrutiny. Allegations retain their authority. The verdict becomes an inconvenient opinion. MIT et al. exercised the power that destroyed David’s career. Science should scrutinize their actions with the same aggression it directed at him. Institutional prestige is not evidence, and “independent investigation” is not a magic phrase that makes the verdict disappear.
A Massachusetts jury has awarded biologist David Sabatini $6 million—plus interest—in damages in his defamation case against Kristin Knouse, a former colleague at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. The physician-scientist’s claims led one research institution to fire Sabatini and precipitated his resignations from Whitehead and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a tenured faculty member. This is one of the finest, most powerful television ads I've every seen. Do American a favor and share this everywhere. Heart, not policy papers. Love, not hate. Hope, not fear. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
Texas was built by hope. By people who had no business believing — but believed anyway. To every Texan who’s ever wondered if anyone in power is paying attention: We are taking our state back. Because a little bit of hope is a dangerous thing.

Dear @AnnieAndrewsMD: I just voted for you, but when I went to check the ballot, your name had been switched with the libertarian candidate. I don’t think it was user error, but I can’t prove it. I was able to go back and change it after that. But keep an ear out, because if other people are having a similar experience, it’s not an accident.

Bravo 👏 Talarico’s comms team is A+
New Talarico ad running statewide: "Ken Paxton says, I don't have his experience, and he's right. "I've never been indicted for fraud. I've never been reported to the FBI for bribery. I've never been impeached by my own party, and I've never given a sweetheart deal to a pedophile. "I have a different kind of experience. I've worked with both parties to cap the cost of insulin and pass the largest property tax cut in Texas history. I'm James Tallarico and I approve this message because we need a different kind of experience in Washington."

"After weighing these factors, Paulk has decided for the first time in his life to cast a ballot for a Democrat -- incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff. He doesn't agree with the Democrats on all issues -- notably, abortion -- but it's Ossoff's help in getting federal aid after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on Paulk's grape crop that won his vote"

Today, just 17 days before the midterm elections, @Meta took down the national #NoKings Instagram account in the middle of the massive nationwide mobilization — then restored it and called it a “bad call.” That means it was done ON PURPOSE: Zuckerberg intentionally suppressed our 1st Amendment right to voice anti-Trump opinions on his platform. Simultaneously, No Kings content was suppressed on @X while Trump's triumphant return to Musk's platform to blast out endorsements of Republican Senate candidates was boosted. Why are Meta and X deliberately colluding to rig their algorithms in favor of Trump and Republicans, while silencing Democrats? Musk & Zuckerberg must disclose exactly what happened today — what was restricted, what was amplified, and most importantly why? Whose idea was it? Any guesses? Trump's Billionaire Tech Bros. strategically diminished the #NoKingsDay national activation while amplifying Trump's desperate posts the cheating POS prays will help him avoid impeachment, conviction, removal and incarceration. NOT A CHANCE.
