Tesla has unveiled the Roadster 2, the first flying vehicle. The company has impressively demonstrated its technological leadership and created a massive gap between itself and everyone else that no one will be able to catch up. Anyone who watches the video feels like they’re in a sci-fi movie, and it’s hard to believe your own eyes when you see the maneuvers it performs in the air. Of course, the goal isn’t to generate revenue or profit with the Roadster 2, but it creates a halo effect that will have a lasting impact. And who knows, perhaps one or two elements of this almost otherworldly technology will find their way into road traffic in the future. For now, however, it’s clear that coad thruster technology in this form will not be permitted by transportation authorities. That doesn’t diminish its capabilities, though, and we’ll see plenty of videos of crazy maneuvers off public roads.
