“Leaving our traditions, we become slaves”. Mweria is an ancient practice of the Mijikenda people of coastal Kenya. Community members pool resources, labour and knowledge to help each other cultivate their land in return for the same commitments later🌱🧵
The revival of Mweria has helped eradicate hunger and poverty, build trust and share knowledge about the land they live on and are in relation to 🍃
