@NancyTakter some great ideas but the Industry as a whole has to realize that the Millenials & Gen Z demand transparency.
Transparency is essential for the harness racing industry to attract and retain Millennials and Gen Z—the two generations that will determine the sport’s future audience, fans, participants, and commercial viability. While transparency matters in every sector, its impact depends on the audience. Millennials and Gen Z bring distinct expectations, and the harness racing industry must meet them head-on if it wants to grow beyond traditional demographics.Millennials tend to support value-driven, socially conscious brands and organizations. A global study on brand purpose found that 90% of millennial respondents would support a brand they see as purposeful—and they hold those brands accountable. For this generation, transparency in harness racing often means clear, consistent stances on animal welfare, ethical breeding and training practices, environmental sustainability at tracks and training centers, and the broader social role of the sport in communities. They want to know the industry stands for more than just the race itself.
Gen Z, meanwhile, wants proof. They value rawness, behind-the-scenes content, and can spot inauthenticity from a mile away. 45% of Gen Z shoppers engage more with brands they perceive as trustworthy, according to Vogue Business. That trust is earned through honesty, vulnerability, and yes—receipts. In harness racing this translates to unfiltered looks at daily horse care, training routines, veterinary protocols, race-day preparations, and even the challenges the industry faces. Polished promotional videos alone will not cut it; Gen Z expects evidence.Tailoring the approach is non-negotiable if the industry wants to market effectively to both groups. For Millennials: Emphasize core values, purposeful storytelling, and intentional choices. Highlight ethical horse welfare standards, sustainable track operations, community partnerships, and the deliberate decisions that protect both the animals and the integrity of the sport. Show how the industry’s actions align with larger principles of responsibility and care. For Gen Z: Show the real process. Open the barn doors, document the messy middle of training and recovery, admit shortcomings when they occur, celebrate constructive feedback from fans and participants, and keep communications authentic and unfiltered. Share the receipts—data on welfare metrics, transparent race integrity measures, and genuine interactions—rather than curated perfection. The harness racing industry as a whole—tracks, associations, trainers, drivers, owners, and marketers—must treat transparency not as optional public relations but as a core marketing strategy. Younger generations will not automatically inherit the sport the way previous ones did. Meeting their expectations around purpose and proof is how the industry earns their attention, loyalty, and long-term support.

Mario Lemieux worse scoring droughts of his career:
Mar. 20–24, 1997 — 3 games
Dec. 15–19, 2002 — 3 games
Nov. 22–Dec. 1, 2005 — 4 games (retired two weeks later) 😂
Remarkably, the first 3-game pointless streak didn't occur until his 734th career game. Insane.

🇨🇦🔥❄️💰 : Liberal MP Kevin Lamoureux has yet another unhinged breakdown, accusing the CPC of character assassination, over the $2b heat pump subsidy Mark Carney announced yesterday.
CPC MP Andrew Lawton puts the smackdown on raging Lamoureux, by dissecting how Carney is in a clear conflict of interest over heat pumps.
For all the people yesterday who claimed Brookfield is not invested in heat pumps, this clip is for you.

For anyone interested in competing in the big events at The Meadowlands during 2027, it is imperative that they are aware that only yearlings from stallions nominated on February 15, 2026, are eligible to race at the mile oval.
“We plan to do the same thing next year by asking the stallion owners to contribute a full annual stud fee, which will make foals of 2026 yearlings of 2027 eligible to race in 2028,” said Meadowlands Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Jason Settlemoir.
Every dollar of every payment will go into the stakes event purse pool.
