Party to celebrate Ian Hislop's 40 years as editor of Private Eye & 65 years at the magazine. Has anyone currently in public life held the same job for longer? The Eye is the greatest journalistic institution of my lifetime. Long may Ian and the Eye reign.

HAVE YOU GONE TO SLEEP MR BURNHAM?
In case you haven’t noticed, the world is changing. New alliances are happening. The coming new alliance between the EU and Canada heralds a major change, an economic powerhouse and a new grouping of great strategic importance is about to emerge. It’s something Britain MUST be a part of. So, what are you doing about it? Are you sticking to Starmer’s ludicrous red lines? If you are, you’re a fool. Are you going to spend years negotiating amendments to Johnson’s hard Brexit deal? If you are, you’re a fool.
SHOW YOUR COLOURS, MR BURNHAM!
We need to know what your intentions are. Are we going to be stuck in the wilderness on our own slowly going down the pan, a sad, crumbling irrelevance or are you going to find some courage, act like a leader and take Britain back into Europe where it belongs?
Brexit has cost us billions. It, and its champion Mr Brexit Farage need to stuffed into the dustbin of history, which is where you’re going unless to get off your arse and get moving and get this sorted.
The clock is ticking.

"Key allies of PM issue warning as details emerge of his plan to give mayors powers to oversee water companies."
I suspect I'm going to get very monotonous about all of this over coming weeks.
To repeat the problem with the water industry is ownership, fix that you fix the issue. Everything else is irrelevant.

The RNLI are and should be treated as emergency services. Any threats to RNLI crew, interfering with their activities should be treated as a criminal offence under the Emergency Workers (Obstruction) Act 2006.
RNLI closes Portsmouth lifeboat station after huge anti-migrant protests
The far right threatened & intimidated RNLI volunteers & is putting lives at risk.
It’s a disgrace that people who risk their lives to save others are being treated like this.

Nigel Farage is posting this morning
“More small boats in the Channel this morning. They will keep coming. Open Borders Burnham won’t stop them”
Lets remind ourselves how we got into this mess in the first place - the BREXIT he championed
Let’s call this bull**** out TOGETHER
The 200,000 illegal migrants figure Farage is using is over several years and let’s remind ourselves how we got into this mess in the first place - BREXIT
And now in threatening to punish those parts of the country where people don’t vote his way the Reform party leader is betraying the basic principles of democracy - its shameless and grotesque bullying which shows nothing but contempt for voters

Shame on the leaders who did nothing to protect democracy from the assault coming its way
…as if we learnt nothing from Brexit.

Thank you everyone for sending this to a million views🙏
UK media must start calling out Farage’s bull****
Nigel Farage and Reform UK want to
- leave the European Convention on Human Rights which protects our right to protest, our right to privacy, our right to fair trials and so much more
- repeal the Equality Act - a key piece of legislation that prevents against discrimination in Britain
- Strip back workers rights
- Lift restrictions on exploitative zero-hours contracts and Legalize "fire and rehire" tactics
- repeal the Renters’ Rights Act which abolishes “no fault evictions” that allow landlords to remove tenants without giving a reason and introduces new duties over health hazards
and to sell all this to the country Farage offers nothing in return but grievance and division. PLEASE DON’T FALL FOR IT.
That anyone could be supporting Farage and Reform with these policies must surely be a damning indictment of UK media in failing to explain all this to the public

Labour has so badly fucked up. It failed to regulate when it had the chance. This is the Americanisation of UK politics.

The BBC leads bulletins with Farage “honoured and humbled” to get Britain’s biggest ever donation (like ot is a peace prize!) How about ‘Farage in fresh funding scandal as crypto convict pardoned by Trump becomes latest donor.’ Can we not sack the Gibb/Reform team who write the headlines and control BBC online? Thank God for Channel 4!!
