Αν θέλουμε να κρατήσουμε κάτι από το σκάνδαλο του ΟΠΕΚΕΠΕ, αυτό είναι ότι η απάτη ήρθε στο φως *μόνο* όταν ασχολήθηκε η Ευρωπαϊκή Εισαγγελία. Κανείς στην Ελλάδα, από τον ΠΘ που ήξερε και κάλυπτε, μέχρι τη δικαιοσύνη και οποιονδήποτε άλλο ελεγκτικό θεσμό, δεν ενδιαφέρθηκε να ερευνήσει το θέμα.
Αφέθηκαν οι Έλληνες αγρότες στα χέρια μιας οργανωμένης μαφίας, που έκλεβε λεφτά που προορίζονταν γι αυτούς και τα διοχέτευε στους "δικούς" της, χωρίς καμία προστασία.
Καμία υπηρεσία του Κράτους δεν λειτούργησε· έπρεπε να ασχοληθεί ένας ξένος θεσμός, που σκοπό έχει να προστατεύει τα χρήματα τρίτων (των Ευρωπαίων φορολογουμένων) και όχι την προστασία των Ελλήνων πολιτών για να αποκαλυφθεί η απάτη.
Αυτό δείχνει την ποιότητα των πολιτικών μας, των θεσμών μας και της Δημοκρατίας μας. Και μας προϊδεάζει για το τί συμβαίνει στους τομείς που δεν έχουν αρμοδιότητα οι ξένοι ελεγκτές.
