Speaking of yellow, you’ve probably wondered where the “Yellow Bird” name attached to the RUF CTR actually came from. It was never an official name from RUF. From what I’ve read, the nickname came from the journalists at Road & Track. During their test at the legendary Ehra-Lessien test track for their “World’s Fastest Cars” issue, the weather was heavily overcast and the yellow RUF really stood out against all that grey. They nicknamed it “Yellow Bird” and the CTR went on to hit 339.8 km/h (211 mph), making it the fastest car of the test.
