[English-German Localization 🇩🇪]
Here are 15 games I’ve localized.
Horror, sports, idle, metroidvania, crime, citybuilder… whatever you’re making, I can translate it.

How do you handle localization from a technical point of view?
What happens between the edited file you receive from the translators and the text appearing in the game? Do you copy string by string, or is the process automated?
I’m asking because German is a very long language. To feel intuitive and natural, the longer versions are usually the best, so my approach is to deliver the best possible translation before LQA and then make a bunch of edits afterwards (to fit the UI). I was wondering whether that means a lot of copy‑paste work for you devs, or if your games pull translations automatically, or if you simply implement entire files instead of manually working through edits.
I know games that pull edits as soon as they are made, devs that need to find and implement each edit individually and a bunch of inbetween approaches...
How do you handle it? What are limitations you are facing?

155 million people are native German speakers.
An estimated 220 million speak German as a first, second, or third language.
Hook German players with a high quality demo or release localization, interesting store pages and targeted social media posts!

I'm sitting in my tiny living room, in my very old supercomfy desk chair, looking at the map and thinking: damn, I'm really lucky to work with talented people all around the world. Working 1:1 with solo devs is much more than text work. You are not a job, you're amazing friends ♥

Every now and then I get emails from translators somewhere in the world, coming to me with all kinds of questions and problems. Do I know these people? Absolutely not. Does it make my day when I see a (often young) person asking me about my experience, looking for advice and tips, even though they don’t know me and don’t speak my language? Yes, it really does.
So why do they reach out? I honestly don’t know. But it makes me happy every time someone says they’ve been quietly reading my posts, following my portfolio, keeping an eye on what I do. It’s unexpected and genuinely lovely. I always try to answer in the most detail and help wherever I can.
But I think I should say this out loud: when we promote ourselves, we all sound top tier professional, right? Just because I flood Twitter with my services doesn’t mean I’m more experienced, more educated, or smarter than anyone else and definitely not the perfect role model for anything. Get your advise from people who've been here and done this for 20 years! Look at people who do what you want to do and for the love of god or satan (whichever you prefer): ASK your questions!
Thank you ♥
