here’s the catch: Trump doesn’t control state elections. States do. Participation in the federal system is voluntary.
States can follow their own election laws, protect eligible voters, and refuse to turn a federal database into a mass voter-purge machine.
Federal overreach doesn’t equal federal control of elections.

The ruling also deals a blow to voting and privacy groups challenging DHS' overhaul of the database as a violation of federal privacy laws and an unconstitutional attempt to usurp states' authority over elections.
