Obviously not against clearing out some people's medical debt, but how about we abolish it for everyone forever (by instituting a universal coverage system). Last I heard NYC officials were not in favor of the New York Health Act, too bad... bkreader.com/news/city-to-re…

Love this by @LVikkiml and Erica Meiners about lessons from Australia's Sisters Inside conference, including "Grassroots Networks Are Crucial!" and conferences are (or, well, can be) sexy and fun. truthout.org/articles/abolit…

My rep @RepYvetteClarke featured (along with other NY electeds) on this projection at the big unionized worker-led march for a ceasefire tonight. "Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel's crimes!"
NY electeds including @SenSchumer, @SenGillibrand, @RepJeffries & others refusing to call for a ceasefire have taken $2M+ in AIPAC funds. New Yorkers reject this far-right influence and demand reps listen to the majority of their constituents calling to end US funding to Israel!

Noticing this small detail in Eric Umansky's "The Failed Promise of Police Body Cameras" as I contemplate our austerity mayor and his budget cuts. nytimes.com/2023/12/13/magaz…

BREAKING: 1,500 Jews, Palestinians, rabbis, imams, pastors, parents, and elected officials for a ceasefire are risking arrest at the Manhattan Bridge. We represent the majority of people in the US. 66% of Americans and 80% of Democrats want the bombing of Gaza to stop.

HAPPENING NOW: Thousands are shutting down the Manhattan Bridge on the busiest travel day of the year, refusing to leave until Biden calls for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. We will make business as usual impossible until the US stops funding and fueling a genocide.

Today, @NYCCouncil holds a preliminary budget hearing on the Mayor's police budget. @NYCSpeakerAdams starts w/ concerns about NYPD spending 2x their overtime budget. Yet @NYCMayor is cutting $ from CCRB, schools, 3K, CUNY, libraries & social services. 🧵#CareNotCuts #CareNotCops

The DC 37 contract is out for voting and there's still a lot of confusion and frustration in the rank and file. We've been working to compile information from the union, our locals, and news sources to understand what's in this contract and where the process falls short.

I don't know how Boston PL's acquisitions and processing works, so not sure if this would have been done by a BPL staffer or a vendor, but the sticker placement over the "NO" definitely looks intentional. 😕
bpl really covered up the NO in NO MORE POLICE so it says MORE POLICE 😭

Have hardly been looking at Twitter lately, unrelated to its ongoing tanking, but I guess I could do worse than to spend my final (?) days on it tweeting from my first Labor Notes Troublemakers School.

In a workshop I met a Princeton librarian (organizing a union there) who also uses my library to get work done. So I had a patron ally - an impromptu building of library worker and community power! (Cf the Library Patrons Union in MN. instagram.com/librarypatrons…)
