H.E. Raj Kumar Singh, Ambassador of India to Guatemala, met with Congresswoman Ivana Bonilla to discuss opportunities to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote economic and commercial ties between India and Guatemala. Discussions included plans to organize Buyer-Seller Meetings (BSMs) in key sectors such as textiles, construction materials, waste management, two-wheelers, and CCTV systems. These initiatives aim to connect businesses from both countries, encourage trade and investment, explore new commercial partnerships, and expand opportunities for collaboration across various industries.

Major decisions taken by Union Cabinet today under the leadership of Prime Minister @narendramodi:
➡️ Approved Viksit Bharat Initiative for Statistical Transformation, Analytics & Research (VISTAR) Scheme for 2026–27 to 2030–31. Will provide strategic flexibility to dynamically allocate resources, fostering a holistic approach to large-scale survey execution, methodological research, digital transformation, and national data governance.
➡️ Capex Support Scheme to promote Critical Mineral Processing with a financial outlay of ₹ 2,814 crore for Lithium and Nickel processing approved. Will support critical sectors of electric mobility, Battery Energy Storage System, electronics, defence and speciality steel.
➡️ Approved Viability Gap Funding Scheme of ₹14,500 crore for Grid-Scale Energy Storage Systems to support development of 92 GWh energy storage capacity. Will accelerate renewable energy integration, strengthen grid stability and ensure affordable round-the-clock power supply.
➡️ Created a pathway for all Agniveers to be absorbed in Defence Forces. 25% of Agniveers will be offered regular employment in the Defence Forces. For the remaining 75% Agniveers, another engagement period of 2 years has been introduced, after which they will be offered enrollment as regular soldiers subject to willingness and their meeting selection criteria.
➡️ Continued Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Fast Track Special Courts for expeditious trial of cases of rape and POCSO Act till FY 2030-31. A step forward towards ensuring timely justice for victims of sexual offences.

Embassy of India in Guatemala, in coordination with PIACE (Programa Integral de Atención a Clientes Especiales), Zona 1, organized a special yoga session for older adults.
Through gentle poses and breathing exercises, participants enjoyed a moment of relaxation, stress relief and mind-body connection, fostering health and well-being.
On the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Loh Purush of India, Shri Raj Kumar Singh, Ambassador, along with Embassy officers and officials, took the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to preserving the unity, integrity and security of our nation.

A remarkable India Development story unfolds!
According to the World Bank Poverty and Equity Brief for October 2026, India has witnessed inclusive progress driven by strong consumption growth, rising employment, especially among women, and expanded social transfers.
🔹496 million people moved above the lower-middle-income poverty line of $4.20 a day between 2011 and 2023.
🔹 Poverty fell from 57.7% to 16.1% in this period.
🔹 Extreme poverty declined from 27.1% to 2.6% in the same period.
🔹 Employment increased by 134 million people between 2017 and 2023, nearly twice the increase in the working-age population.
🔹 Access to electricity reached 99% of the population, according to the report’s 2022 survey data.
A strong foundation laid for inclusive growth and opportunity for all.

As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign, Embassy officers undertook the weeding out of obsolete documents that had completed their prescribed retention period, in accordance with established procedures.
The initiative promotes efficient record management, proper disposal of outdated records and a clean, organised workplace.
Ambassador H.E. Raj Kumar Singh led a cleanliness drive at the Chancery premises as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign, with Embassy officers actively participating in the initiative through #Shramdaan.
The initiative reflects the Embassy’s commitment to promoting cleanliness, collective responsibility and the vision of a cleaner, greener and Swachh Bharat.
As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, the Embassy of India, Guatemala City, felicitated its cleaning staff by presenting gift in appreciation of her hard work and dedication.

Embassy of India in Guatemala City organized a Yoga workshop at InTouch, Centro de Atención al Cliente, Zona 13. Participants learned breathing techniques and proper postures to relieve stress, relax the mind and body, and promote overall well-being.
H.E. Shri Raj Kumar Singh, Ambassador of India to Guatemala, met H.E. Omar Lisandro Castañeda Solares, Ambassador of Guatemala to India, at the Embassy Residence. Both discussed bilateral issues of mutual importance, reaffirming the spirit of friendship and cooperation between India and Guatemala.

The Union Cabinet, under the leadership of PM @narendramodi, has approved:
✅ The Khelo India Sports Goods Manufacturing Scheme with an outlay of Rs 1,857 crore, to boost domestic sports equipment production, increase exports, generate employment and reduce import dependence.
✅ A 3% hike in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief, benefiting over 1.17 crore Central government employees & pensioners.
✅ The Container Manufacturing Promotion Scheme with an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore, to expand domestic container manufacturing capacity nearly tenfold, boosting local production and reducing dependence on imports.
✅ The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Gram Swaraj Yojana with an outlay of Rs 7,395.55 crore to strengthen grassroots governance and enable more effective rural development planning.
