As an early years teacher, we would often (like, daily) meet as teams to reflect on our image of the child, work on shared philosophies, discuss theories… In middle school I haven’t had those discussions (yet). Why? Why does this seem less important as children age?
I truly miss this the most. Those discussions are soul enriching, help you figure out baselines & behaviour related to development, help you identify patterns & next steps...

Here are some ‘finished’ prototypes for our #MYPDesign Race Car Challenge unit. This unit was focused on #iterations and #prototyping using inexpensive materials (recycled stuff!)
Our #mypdesign Trashion Show is slowly (actually… quickly) approaching. So much creativity and risk taking as Ss tackle new challenges and learn new skills. So far we’ve got 2 MCs, 2 videographers, and a list of models emerging.
Grade 8s had a fun class today - learning how to thread a sewing machine, gathering materials that were headed for the bin (old algebra textbooks which they were thrilled to rip apart), & starting the first steps in making #upcycled fashion items for our Trashion Show in December
In grade 7 we are making prototypes of cars that will run with a motor. We’ll race them later but today… today was an epic day learning how to solder 👩🏼🏭 #MYPDesign
My superstar 6s did an amazing job in the workshop for our first unit in #MYPDesign We are almost at the end of the #designcycle - next we will document changes we made between our final sketches &our finished products, &then do some reflecting &self-assessing 🎉
