🚨 Every $TAO subnet has been forced to run the same business model. eTAO ends that. It's one of the biggest changes to subnet economics since dTAO. Watch the 80-second explainer 🎬👇 How it worked until now Every 12 seconds, each subnet mints new alpha tokens. Almost every subnet split them the exact same way: • 18% to the owner (the team running it) • 41% to validators and their stakers (checking the work) • 41% to miners (doing the work) A GPU farm, a research lab and a consumer app all lived by one rule. What eTAO (Expressive TAO) changes Each subnet owner can now set their own split, within limits: • Miners: at least 33% • Validators: up to 50% • Owners: up to 33% (18% minimum for lease-created subnets) • Changes about once a week Total emissions don't change. eTAO only changes where they go. Why that's a big deal Different businesses need different budgets: • A compute subnet short on GPUs pays miners more • A research team funds its developers through the owner share • A subnet with hard-to-check work spends more on validators Targon (SN4) is the live example. In the Talking Targon episode with Const, the team said customers want more compute than it has, and most of it is rented. Push miners from 41% to 80% and miners get about 95% more tokens. At the same token price, that nearly doubles the budget to bring on GPUs. More compute → more revenue → bigger buybacks. That's Targon's plan, not a guarantee. The twist Lower yield can be bullish. A high APY tells you how fast new tokens reach stakers. It doesn't tell you what customers pay. Normal companies make this trade every day: reinvest in production instead of paying out. eTAO lets subnets make the same call. The guardrails • Root $TAO stakers are paid their baseline first, calculated from live chain state • Owners can't set validators below that baseline • Miners can never drop below a third • The burn and recycle slots exist but are fixed at zero for now Why? Const explained it: without a floor, a subnet could cut out its outside holders, fake its price signal and pull emissions it hasn't earned. The floor keeps every subnet paying the network that funds it. Everything else that just changed eTAO isn't alone. Bittensor is redesigning itself fast: • Null Consensus: opt-in, up to 2,500 participant slots per subnet, up from 256 • Proof-of-work registration: miners can join with compute, no TAO upfront • Subnet registration cost now halves every 8 days, down from 16 • New-subnet immunity drops from 120 days to 60 • Gamma (in development): subnets buy compute, storage and inference from each other with their emissions Put it together: bigger competitions, easier entry, faster turnover, custom budgets, and soon an internal economy where subnets are each other's customers. The take • eTAO is on testnet now. Mainnet comes with the next runtime upgrade (v481) • An owner can fund the wrong thing. A weak scoring system can pay miners who farm rewards instead of building the product • Alpha staking yields aren't permanent. A subnet's split is now part of what you're investing in • Emissions aren't revenue. The bull case only works if extra output gets paid for Why it matters for AI AI doesn't grow in straight lines. Agents make thousands of requests while a person reviews one dashboard. Workloads shift from compute to storage to verification in weeks. A network funding that can't run on one fixed rule. Now it doesn't have to. 🧠 Sources: Bittensor release notes (v481), Talking Targon Ep. 01 with Const, Novelty Search. $TAO / Not financial advice, always DYOR.

3 months ago we had 8/128 subnets that had done manual burns. Today we have a full page of 17/128 subnets that have done manual burns. During the last 3 months we went from 3.7k TAO worth of alpha burnt to 6.6k TAO worth of alpha burnt. Bittensor Flywheels are coming 🔥🔥
This the the taoflute.com column I've been most excited to make public: [Alpha Manually burnt in the last 30 days] We can finally compare subnets based on manual burns (often buyback+burns). Hover for more info Click the number for more info

Tao.com's website says its staking app is "free to use" and that fees "are not collected by TAO.com." The chain disagrees. Since Aug 6 the app has taken about 540 TAO (~$121k) in fees from its users. Receipts below. 🧵[1/9]...

Root Reborn gives validators real power now. Shoutout to @arbos_born for doing this the right way. They're dropping their full grading criteria straight into every team's Discord. Same objective parameters for everyone, right there for anyone to check. They graded us. 9/10, IN, all gates clear. We like that too! Genuinely appreciate a validator setting the precedent and putting their reasoning where people can actually see it. More of this please. @vidaio_ $TAO

Introducing Root Reborn: a new market for optimizing TAO yield across Bittensor. Validators compete to build the best-performing subnet baskets. Successful strategies can attract more stake, so more root yield goes toward the subnets that create the most value.

A big global client was using ElevenLabs, the industry go-to for AI dubbing, and still wasn't happy with the results. So PIP Studios brought them to us. We built a system using: One model for transcription. One model for translation and dubbing. One model for voice matching and cloning. Plus a QA layer that catches errors and loops them back until they're fixed. On the same test, English to Japanese: ElevenLabs: 52/100 VIDAIO: 82/100 ElevenLabs omitted lines, mistranslated instructions, and lost important meaning. @vidaio_ caught the errors and corrected them. That's the difference between using one model and curating an evolving network of the best models, orchestrated through the best pipeline. Best model. Best execution. Best result! Aggregation, evolved. (How the QA layer actually works) 👇 @vidaio_ bittensor:native
🤖 Made with AI
All the tools. One place. But this is more than aggregation. Grocery stores have all the ingredients. You choose, you cook. At a restaurant, you pick a dish. The kitchen chooses the ingredients, cooks it, and serves it. Now imagine that restaurant has competing chefs. Only the winner gets served to you. Every dish: the current best ingredients, the best methods, the best taste. That's @vidaio_ Compression. Upscaling. Restoration. Security. Streaming. Localization. Every model on our network competes, every week, across all of it. We select the best one, run it, and deliver the result. Best model. Best execution. Best result. The video industry needs aggregation. We're giving it more. This is aggregation, evolved. bittensor:native

How the QA layer actually works.... There's no industry standard that we are aware of for measuring dubbing quality, nothing like VMAF for video. ElevenLabs, the go-to AI voice and dubbing platform, doesn't have one either. So we built our own. It scores the dub against the original transcript and audio, and flags exactly where something broke: a mistranslation, a dropped line, a shift in meaning. Flagged sections get rerun; translation and dubbing repeat until the errors clear. We needed something that was both quantitative and qualitative, a number to compare, and specifics to fix. @vidaio_ bittensor:native
