Excited to share that my PhD work is out in @Nature today! We engineered armoured CAR T cells to express therapeutic payloads only at the tumour site, to improve their safety and efficacy for the treatment of solid cancers. 1/14

One of my favourite things about the paper is the use of rapid gene KO bone marrow chimeras which wouldn’t have happened without @JunyunLai and proved an incredibly versatile tool for unpicking some of the biology of Cxcl9
It’s kind of amazing that an active journalist can make negative public comment about a politician. Thank god he doesn’t work for a medical research institute.

2/ Main findings:
- Last author of paper is 20% more likely to be credited as IP inventor than 1st author.
- This is more skewed in #biology and less in #engineering.
- Female 1st authors are much more likely to be *excluded* from patents than male 1st authors.
