Floor 7 and top 30 EUW, will try and keep up the pace for next week's snapshot to qualify directly to 2nd week of Cup for the first time ever
I have been playing a much more purposeful losestreak strategy via ravagers into 3-1 stabilization ideally and angling Sivir/Nidalee majority of games and I think the comp is very strong + can get a lot of edge via positioning in Stage 4
recent testing on 6jugg Zyra/Morgana/Soraka/Azir that has been going decently well to have an "uncontested" AP default as well, works surprisingly well with the right augment setups even without jugg emblem
Fingers crossed I can climb to 1K in next couple of days without inting away 🐼
By far my best set start(we dont talk about first days), in current results but especially in the way I am playing, by far the best TFT I have ever played by a large margin.
Every "random bullshit go" board I end up on stage 4/5 only makes me think of more and more packages/spots I will have to stay open to in the future, kind of daunting. Game is in a great spot outside of Malphite AP line contest...hoping next patch is even better and I can qualify directly via ladder to Cup#1 for the first time 🐼
💡 Thoughts on @TFT Patch 18.1 💡
Considering I frequently share my grievances with TFT when it's in a frustrating state, I think it's only fair to also share my thoughts when it's in an exceptionally good state.
Despite some technical shortcomings when it came to the migration to Unreal, as far as I recall this might be the most enjoyable launch patch in TFT's entire history imho. I don't recall every experiencing a patch where every single 4 cost is completely viable and fairly close in power level, as well as having an insane amount of stage 4 board possibilities when it comes to mixing and matching 4 costs. It feels so good to have so many viable tanks to roll for as well as having tank trait capping 5 costs for Brawler/Jugg/Vanguard. Especially in contrast to Set 17 it's a night and day difference. Am I the only one that still instinctively opens team planner and adds some random unit to check for stragazer/psionic type traits every so often btw? xdd
5 Costs in general feel pretty good, mostly in terms of supporting roles but with some huge carry potential in the right setups like invoker Alune or Kennen2/Gnar2 in the right comps. I'm not loving Draven overall but hopefully dev team can itireate on a better balance of initial power/reward/bounty balance going forward.
Obviously balance is not perfect and there are definitely some outliers when it comes to comps like Riftbeasts/Cassio and even some noticeable disparity in pris aug or charms but overall the game is incredibly enjoyable and playing truly flexible TFT is considerably rewarding once again for those up to the task.
I can't wait to see how the set evolves, hoping for some more viability for non-conditional reroll lines in the next few patches(trist, yi, veigar all require fairly specific setups) and I simply want to congratulate @WittyWittrock @TheTruexy @ineekoh and the entire dev team on shipping a stellar set when it comes to both design, trait web, and launch patch balance.
My fav comp I cooked up today ⤵️

🟢Set 18 Itemization Cheatsheet 🔵
📚 Melee 1/2/3 Costs 📚
🧂Take with a grain of salt, meant to be used to help quickly identify unit archtypes and learn their kits. Very preliminary data for now so the "BIS" is quite tentative.
💡Biggest Takeaways 💡
-Guinsoo surprisingly a strong build for most lower cost melee units, healing items overbuilt on melee units.
-Lightshield the go-to generically good tank artifact, while the usual RFC/Mittens/Wit's End looking good for melee units, Death's Defiance not performing well unlike in previous sets
Will be posting a final updated version of all cheatsheets around Aug 24-25th on the final PBE patch prior to launch of Enchanted Wilds on live servers. 🗓️
Hope these have been helpful for those of you learning the set on PBE 🐼
🟢Set 18 Itemization Cheatsheet🔵
📚 Cheatsheet for Ranged 1/2/3 Costs 📚
🧂Take with a grain of salt, meant to be used to help quickly identify unit archtypes and learn their kits. Very preliminary data for now so the "BIS" is quite tentative.
💡Biggest Takeaways 💡
- Guinsoo wins the att spd item battle, lots of BIS users in the RR space, Xayah much prefers Red Buff though as does Azir if you can find enough bows for him
- Dawncore showcasing it's dominance in the artifact space yet again, best performing artifact on quite a few units.
- Some units very clearly not worth itemizing on your final board in any condition, Karma being the most obvious example due to her direct overlap with Ahri in the Blossom line and lack of carry potential
🟣Set 18 Itemization Cheatsheet🟡
📚 Cheatsheet for 4 & 5 Cost Units 📚
🧂 Take with a grain of salt, meant to be used to help quickly identify unit archtypes and learn their kits. Very preliminary data for now so the "BIS" is quite tentative.
💡Biggest Takeaways💡
- The usual Guinsoo vs Red Buff battle, rageblade generally overslammed(PBE enjoyers too strong). Only Nidalee seems to be performing well with RB, as well as Draven in the 5 cost space.
- Crownguard seems to be performing the best in terms of tank items, decent slam on almost everyone and close to BIS on many tanks. Stoneplate generally overslammed and not as good on 4 cost tanks compared to reroll units.
-For artifacts, a lot of great Dawncore units this set. High prio as well as the usual wide-use artifacts such as Lightshield Crest or Gold Collector. Can easily find good holders in most comps.
I'll post a few more times this week for reroll units and do a definitive cheatsheet with the data from last week of PBE before launch on the 26th! 🐼

Ahead of today's PBE deploy for Set 18, here are some systems changes to keep an eye on. Keep in mind we're ~1 month from launch, so these are subject to change.
For XP changes, Wisps generally deflate the game's economy. While many new Wisps do generate gold or rerolls, we want players to feel like they can engage with the Set mechanic without taxing the accessibility of higher levels.
The other large shift before PBE is Artifact reshaping. Since Set 15 Artifacts (at the time deservedly) have shifted to be more like generic statsticks, losing a lot of their novelty and magic. Artifacts should be a memorable twist on how you play the game, and when they become "more stats", TFT doesn't feel the same. We're re-introducing some older Artifacts, while making some existing artifacts a bit sharper to their original fantasy. We'll be keeping a close eye on these item's power levels on PBE and how often Artifacts appear and will adjust quickly.

yo-
As most of you probably know TFT is going to PBE for Set 18, Enchanted Wilds in our new Unreal Engine build today.
Since it’s gonna feel different and a bit crazier than a normal PBE cycle I wanted to jump in before it all opens up to set some expectations.
The core gameplay loop of Set 18 is all there and we’re excited for yall to get your hands on it to start cooking up comps, playing with wisps, and telling us what works and what doesn’t. But I wanna be clear that there will also be a ton of weird and pretty janky bugs/interactions that we will need to iron out over the next month such as:
•Button responsiveness: spam-clicking XP and reroll won't feel smooth and seamless yet.
•UI delays: trait icons or augment panels/tooltips might take a split second to load information the first time.
•Rubberbanding: units might visually jump back for a moment before moving into position.
•Audio/Art: some audio hiccups that play too often or lingering VFX particles that don’t clear up after fights.
and with TFT's endless combinations, there’s a ton more that we know about but also a ton that you all will help us discover in the coming days and weeks.
All of that is why we’re on PBE for a full month instead of the usual two weeks. This isn't a typical cycle for balance and normal bug bashing. We’re gonna need time to knock out the stuff I mentioned above (and more) and also test a lot of under the hood stuff. A good example of that will be quite obvious when we turn on our Ranked queue on PBE (which I'm pretty sure we have never done) to make sure all of our ranked/matchmaking systems are ready for live launch.
We expect things to break and your bug reports are what will get us to the most successful launch day possible in a month.
Quick details for today:
•Launch timing: Expect PBE to open later in the day (likely late afternoon PT) as it’s a massive deployment with all the new engine assets. There will probably be delays. Just expect it.
•Downtime: Expect more instability and intermittent downtime throughout the month as we push necessary fixes, fix crashes etc.
•Bug reporting: As you run into issues plz drop them into the r/competitiveTFT Reddit PBE megathread or the bug channels in the TFT discord. Please include the full screenshot if you have them (don’t crop and instead show all the players/full screen of game etc) or even better if you have video to include. The more information the easier it is to track down.
Thanks a ton for bearing with us through the initial days. They are gonna be messy, but helping us break things now is super valuable so we can get it crisp for live. This is a big and tbh kinda scary first step but we’re excited to have you gamers be part of this with us
Another TFT Major cast in the books! 🐼
GG @VisionEsportggs well deserved champions🏆
Was a blast to cast 4v4 TFT again at a tournament of this calibre, I hope I was able to add my small grain of sand to the broadcast in highlighting the strategic depth/complexity this format adds to @TFT .
Shoutout to all my usual co-casters but especially to non-endemic talent who adapted so well to the challenges of TFT and made this broadcast truly unique! @kiittwy @RobTeeVee @dGon @zDamascus @Reflections ❤️
🏆Feedback on @TFT's Tier 2 Circuit v2 🏆
The goal of this post is to share my thoughts on what the ideal T2 circuit is prior to S18 launch while also inviting engaged members of the community to add their thoughts, feelings and pain-points both on the current circuit as well as on my proposal. The aim is to assist Riot in better understanding the needs of the T2 playerbase to continue improving the product going forward(taking special advantage of the delay for S18 start and potentially allowing additional wiggle-room for implementation of feedback still).
To contextualize the post for those who don't know me, I have been involved with TFT as an esports caster since Set 6, and have worked closely with Riot on essentially every single major tournament broadcast since then, as well as behind the scenes in different capacities focusing on esports narrative/format/player relations. I also enjoy competing, and since the cancellation of official broadcasts for regular season tournaments I have shifted my focus to competition the last two sets, competing in the Tier 2 Trials/Cups and making it to TC day3 and peaking around 1.4k LP on ladder, just to say I have direct experience as a competitor with the T2 circuit.
To preface, Riot has announced preliminary dates regarding Set 18’s T2 circuit(image linked below). There may or may not be further announcements regarding other tournaments in EMEA further integrating with the major/minor or club systems, so I am not directly criticizing Riot’s decisions regarding T2 as I don’t think we have the full picture outside of Trials dates(I have faith Riot will announce some changes outside of the current overlap with TPC solve, especially considering continuous feedback throughout the last few sets).
Goals of T2 🥅
Find the optimal balance between competitive inclusivity, opportunity and reward for those truly engaged players who aspire to improve their game in a structured competitive circuit.
🫂 Inclusivity: I think the current pool of aspiring competitors is close to perfect(players above cut for trials week1) and requires no changes. No lottery systems, fair time/commitment/skill requirements for qualification. 9/10
🏆Opportunity: The competitive T2 circuit is too short. Ladder snapshots end too soon, and there are only two cups. This issue is further impacted by the issue of balance in TFT on average being considerably worse at a start of a set compared to the end of the set(Set 17 presented the most drastic example). With the bulk( or totality in some cases) of ladder snapshots and tournaments taking place during the first half of a set, this further compounds the issue of opportunity. Even if players are eager to engage with the circuit at a set’s peak, they lack the opportunity to do so with any meaningful incentives on the line. T2 is the large majority of the competitive scene from a numbers standpoint. It’s the base of the pyramid, not just with competitors but also engagement in viewership(including tpc/regionals) in the esports ecosystem. 5/10
💎Reward: Improvements have been made regarding rewarding the best players each set, and a balance has been met between Riot’s desire for rewarding single tournament performances(spiking a single trial tournament) and rewarding consistency(addition of QP qualification). I think further changes can/should be made to provide an even more consistent/rewarding T2 experience, and I will outline the details in my proposals below. 7/10
Set 17’s circuit + Qualification Routes 🗓️
Set 17 launch: April 15th
Trials 1 Week1 start: May 2nd(17 days after launch)
Trials 2 Week1 start: May 23rd(38 days after launch)
Regionals Qualification (EMEA) 🚪
Playins: 29th-32nd TPC(4) + Trials Top 4QP(4) + 5th-10th EUW Ladder(6) + 1st EUNE & TR(2)
Week 1: 17th-28th TPC(12) + Top 8 TT1(8) + Top 8 TT2(8) + 1st-4th EUW Ladder
Week 2: 1st-16th TPC(16)
My proposal for S18 💡
Add a 3rd cup, extend ladder snapshot, extend regional ladder snapshots accordingly.
Qualifier Points Path: Qualifier points will take into account 2 out of 3 best results. Best individual tournament result is a tiebreaker if needed.
This proposal extends the season while simultaneously allowing players flexibility in missing a tournament due to work/studies/travel or lowrolling/variance mitigation without sacrificing the qualification route entirely.
Set 18’s announced circuit 🗓️
Set 18 Launch: August 26th
Set 18 Trials 1 Week 1: Sept 19th(24 days - 118 days since final day of T2W1 from Set17)
Set 18 Trials2W1: October 10th(45 days)
Proposed Regional Qualification 🏆
Playins: 29th-32nd TPC(4) + 5-10EUW(6) + 5-10QP(6)
Week1: 17th-28th TPC(12) + Top4EUW(4) + Top4 TT1/2/3(12) + Top4(QP)
Week2: 1st-16th TPC
In EMEA, this proposal removes direct qualification routes for rank 1 TR/EUNE while still giving qualification slots directly to Week2 of trials from both servers. I personally think slots 9/10 of either EUW ladder or QPs are more competitive than TR1 and possibly also EUNE. For EUNE in particular I don’t think there is a meaningful server difference or ping difference for which a truly serious aspiring competitor would prefer competing on EUNE over EUW, outside of specifically easier qualifications to trialsweek2(which remains so) and easier qualification to regionals. This also avoids wintrading issues in lower pop/easier to manipulate matchmaking servers which has been an issue in the past on multiple smaller EMEA servers. Please correct me if I am wrong or ignorant on the subject matter.
This proposal also makes regional qualification much simpler and easier to understand.
Top4 in any path -> Week1Day1
Top5-10 -> Playins
All paths are treated equally, further rewarding consistency(QPs) over single tournament spikes and adding even more stakes to the final game 7 of Trials(only top 4 makes regionals instead of all 8).
If adding a 3rd cup forces overlap once again with TPC for some weekends, I think the majority of competitors would agree it’s a worthwhile sacrifice as opposed to no-overlap but only 2 cups(please chime in below if you agree/disagree). This is the only real negative imho outside of slightly higher budget concerns for T2 due to the addition of a 3rd cup and potentially strangling out other for-fun/non-main circuit tournaments as two more weekends per set will be occupied with main circuit competition if trying to fully avoid TPC. I even think it would be plausible for overlap to specifically target W1 of Trials, which for the most part has a less relevant field of players in terms of established pros and players who make content. In edge cases, I think a similar solution to Set 17’s trials/TPC overlap which at least in EMEA was having Trials at 10 AM on Saturday morning and TPC in the afternoon as usual.
I can't really prove feasibility for a 3 cup circuit because I am not privy to the behind the scene schedules Riot is has to work around but even with publically availble info it seems doable:
Trials1 W1: Sept 12th start instead of 19th(No overlap)
Trials1 W2: Sept19th(TPC overlap)
Trials2 W1: October 3rd(TPC overlap)
Trials2 W2: October 9th(No overlap)
Trials3 W1: October 23(No overlap)
Trials3 W2: October 30th(No overlap)
Action Points for T2 competitors ✍️
Tier 2 Circuit preference?
1) A 2 cup Tier 2 circuit with no overlap with TPC
2) 3 cup Tier 2 circuit with an additional ladder snapshot, prioritizing an extra tournament even if that means overlap with TPC due to weekend limitations(ideally just week1’s and can avoid overlap with full day schedule)
Regional Qualification Routes breakdown preference?
1) The qualification system used in Set17(rewarding individual tournament spikes over consistency
2)My S18 proposed qualification system, shifting value towards QP over spiking tournaments
Please share your opinions below and any additional feedback you may have on the issues I discussed or any other issues that have come up for you as a T2 competitor. Thank you for taking the time to thoroughly read the post. If you are a part of any competitive TFT communities feel free to share the tweet for visibility/competitor input+suggestions.
